    @jimdillon,

    I believe that you are correct. Compare these three pictures. As we know cars sometimes switched classes or even ran multiple classes. These all look like they could be different evolutions of the same car to me. Notice that in one of the pictures the car says Buffalo, New York on it which was the home of the former owner that raced it. His name was Richard Lasner. Looking at the lettering on the top of the door I think it says Rich and it looks like it could be Lasner. Also it looks like
    ???? Strip Niagara on the quarter panel in all three pictures. The wheels look the same but without the spinners in one of the pictures. There are many other similarities too.

    Here is the green Vette for comparison and additional information.

    And here is more of the story on its history

    Jason I believe you are correct as well. I have been looking for those same pictures as I made a file on them but did not know it was Rich Lasner. The only reason I had the brown roadster pic above was someone put it on FB the other day and I copied it to compare. Long story short some months ago my computer started acting up and I removed many pictures into thumb drives but within a few days it crashed and I know I lost quite a few. When I removed the pics it was helter skelter. I wanted to compare them (and I believe I have one more when it was red and silver). If and when I find the other red one I will try and compare it).

    I do not know if the car won the 69 Nats in class, or at least my records do not reflect it. Not sure what races it won but now that I have the name Lasner I will try and put together a better file. I always liked the car.

    Jason here is the other picture I was trying to find of the car when it was red(ish). There may be one more that is rolling around the back of my mind but God only knows where it is. gas3.jpg

    Jim, I was going to look for that picture next. Hopefully you can recover the pictures and information from your computer. It would take a long time to replicate it all. On the color of the Vette, I suspect that the car was the same color in all of the pictures but in shadows the maroon looked brown and in bright light it looked reddish. Also the film or exposure and how old the photos were before they were copied digitally could have had something to do with the coloration. In most of the pictures you can definitely see the stripe on the hood. There is one that I’m not sure if I see the stripe but it could be because of the angle of the photo. (Side Shot)

    I also believe that a lot of the confusion regarding what was a legal gas class car occurs when people apply rules from an early rule book to a later car. For instance 1962 gas class rules to a car that ran in a gas class in 1969

    Jason, I have so many thumb drives and I may have the pictures anyways but I lost a lot of stuff and it is gone forever. I took my computer to so-called experts to see if they could recover just what I had on my desktop and they told me they probably could but it just went dark. I had some of my research and analysis and that is gone. I had tons of notes on the pictures and that file is gone. That may upset me more than anything but such is life. I am over it as I thankfully saved most of my stuff. One day I will try and refile a bunch of stuff from the thumb drives but that could be mind numbing.

    You are probably correct on the color shift. Somewhere I saw a clearer picture of the "brown" and it did look brown but it may be red and the picture shade is just off. I still seem to remember another shot of the car in the pits but I may be wrong. Todd Wingerter has a number of pics of similar cars and that may have thrown me off.

    In any event I am glad the car survived and hopefully it will remain out of the clutches of those that insist on taking cars back to stock. I for one want some of the drag cars saved so future fans can see them up close.

    As to the gas you are probably correct. The rules evolved and the cars changed.

    We've seen this car a lot, mostly on the trailer. The more I see it the more I like it.

    This car lived very close to here. A good friend traveled the show and drag circuit with Lang for a year when we got of HS.
