Technical T-Body on A-Frame

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ct1932ford, Nov 5, 2022.

  1. A bunch of us old hot rodders took Ted’s near perfect T coupe body over to good friend Charlie’s garage today. Well Charlie and I are old!
The marriage of sorts will be the T coupe onto Charlie’s A frame.
Here we go! 4C734818-4DB1-4723-8CFF-49E08184FDF7.jpeg DD9425F2-2242-4E76-B0E1-90ECB6DF4C5F.jpeg EEB8B20F-A20D-48A4-86AA-1A8EB84D5794.jpeg 3E25AA97-978A-45E6-881B-9DD92720F844.jpeg [ATTACHThis should be fun!

I bought this project for a body for Charlie's project. he had started building an A chassis and this is what we found cheap. I plan to build a T speedster with the chassis.

Charlie built the chassis using a model A engine and rear, used a "pause shift" era transmission with an adapter. he used later ford juice brakes and made the master cylinder bracket. he made his own shock mounts. all chassis pieces were "scrounged" and restored by Charlie.

more shots of the day we set the body on and mocked up the pieces

  12. Charlie wasted no time making stuff work. he installed the steering box, and removed the angled floorboard sills.
Today we shifted the body around to find the best spot. it ended up almost as far forward as the rear cross member would allow. this gave us a little extra room for full pedal travel. we did have to heat and bend the pedals to clear. we put the seat in and got a comfortable position. image5.jpeg

  21. I had to make a new inner board for the bottom of one of the doors and both outer boards that follow and support the inside of the bottoms of both doors.

Nice work Ted! Do the doors have window regulators or straps to pull the glass up?

  27. Charlie has been picking away at it. he has the fenders and splash aprons, mounted and he brushed a coat of paint on them. he has been working on fixing the wood for the seat riser and the top wood. I also made him a firewall from a template and we test fitted it today. image0.jpg image1.jpg image2.jpg
