The 32 frame front cross, the bolted tube is classic straight but some use a bended one. Was this something they did back in the days or more a later on street rod deal ?
The front spreader bar looks like a Model A emergency brake cross shaft. HRP This one has been chromed.
The ONLY car I can remember that used a V or curved front spreader bar back in the day was the McGee roadster. It was also the only car I can remember that had hidden hinges. I love that roadster, but just ecause it used those items doesn't make them mainstream. If anyone else can show other examples from before 1955 I'd love to see them.
Dare to be different! all can be neat.... nerf bars, dirt track guards, cam shafts, but be careful not to lean to far or heaven forbid, someone will shout rat rod !
I could have possibly been a reginal thing, I recall a 29 hiboy roadster on '32 rails and a 32 coupe in my area that used the emergency brake cross shaft as a front spreader, the two guys were always traveling together, this was in the 70's. HRP
I have never been a fan of the V spreader bars but it is a popular alternative to the straight original style spreader bar. I have seen them on a lot of Hambers cars. HRP
Well, I like it but first prio is be era correct as far as I can. But if a Henry part, I can think McGees saw it and did copy it at 47... Thank's 'hotrodprimer' for more pictures !
That swoopy one would complement a mopar front axle...always thought of bending one to mimic a 32 dropped axle
And it had hidden hinges too. Hmm. Maybe we should all put V bars and hidden hinges on our 32's........ It is traditional evidently.
An older posting for the sake of a better explanation shall we say....but lets see some track 'A's, 'T's 32's 33's,34's & Sprinters with front grille guards ..past or present would be welcome!
