Well, you don't live in the rain belt.

nope, we only got 20" so far this year. Which is almost record setting.

But with how much rain leaks in around the windows, I'm counting on the gaps at the edges of the floor to allow it to drain out...

I'm planning to....I'll leave this weekend for New Orleans, then head up the Great River Road (route to be determined).

I bet it'll be cold in Minnesota.

I have my old vintage Rand McNally, well worn out road atlas, all ready to follow along on this next adventure.
The wife and I got married in New Orleans back in 2013, great city, great jazz and blues, and great food!

The heater is working now, at least. I think I'll be ok, I got rid of most of the big drafts.

That heater is sure to work better now. Warm feet make all the difference.

yeah, I stuck them into the holes where the AC vents would go, which is also where the original speaker went, below the vent. I didn't have to hack anything up that way. Hacking things up takes a lot of effort. You might also note that the modern stereo is hanging under the original radio on a strand of baling wire. It's kind of temporary, I expect to remove all this stuff before I sell the car.

  18. Ah, double duty. Baling wire to support the stereo, AND supply the ground.

    Velcro wouldn’t be traditional.

  21. Actually, Velcro was invented in the 1940’s. I still agree the baling wire is the way to go.

  22. Best advice I've seen online all week! Why make new holes when you've already got a couple spares?

  24. I bought a '61 Belair for parts years back. The front seat was held up via pieces of 2" x 4" and under the carpet was roofing shingles, neatly feathered out to keep the bulk down.

When I did the floors on my '68 Impala race car tow vehicle, I pop riveted 18 gauge sheet metal over the holes, used some self-tappers too. The literal icing on the cake was using a liquid roof tar that came in a gallon jug to close up any gaps. It worked quite well although it stunk for a few days until it cured.

Great, another road trip adventure. You should pick up a sheet of cardboard to put in front of the radiator.
The Minnesota weather keeps the old cars running cooler than this one is used to.
