Projects Finally bought a Mercury

  1. When I was in high school we had a 4 door 1950 Mercury we put a 429 ford in. Iv always had a Mercury on my list but never has worked out until Lead Aint Dead weekend. Kinda fell in to my lap sold a 32 sedan that Friday and Saturday lady showed me pictures on their 1951 Mercury that was their high school car. They parked it 1971, ice storm collapsed the car port it was under caved the drivers side top down and broke the back window out. Here's a few pics of it .

    51 coupe is the one to have (that's what I have, too) and that one looks very complete, which is a huge deal since there's really nothing made for them. Good score.
     
  5. Yep, if I was going to own one the '51 would be my choice. Looks like a very good start.

  16. Mercury was first on my list. Second was a Hotrod. Now, I just need to get me a pre war Harley or Indian. Right now i'm saving up to repaint it.
     
  17. Plans are mild custom , change grille, headlights , tailights , make a great cruizer
     
  18. I always thought a cool 51 grille treatment is to remove the bumper guards, then replace the grille bars that are bumped up behind the bumper guards with normal grille teeth from a second grille.

    Do you have a replacement rear window and stainless? I changed out mine when I chopped it and the original is just collecting dust. Larry 20220817_132245.jpg

  27. A friend of mine who lived in another city, had a stocker 51. He was a hot rodder, but every time I passed through his area, we'd go a ride in that one. Always thought it was cool, as is.
