Ive had 2 survivors now... 1 , unrestored 29 coupe... Repainted and new grill shell as it was in a museum for 30 years of its life. IMG_0251.JPG

And the latest, 50s flathead swapped 31 sedan, was blasted a few years ago, so went ahead and gave it the love it deserved.

    after

Main fab work for trans, wishbone support etc was all retained, new motor mounts welded in instead of bolt in stuff.

The one in my avatar I built in 1970/71, then sat for 30 some years. (life got in the way). Brought back to life in 2007, only change is color.

  16. WIN_20190406_17_39_35_Pro.jpg I want to play too. My Drag Coupe was a 1/4 warrior in tha 60's. I bought it back to life in the year 2000 retaining all the old goodness I could. The previous owner was going to turn it into a street rod but never got the chance to ruin its history. WIN_20150412_145154.JPG

This was the first example of the world famous “Moon Eyes” logo. The T-Roadster wore the “00” number and once a pair of pupils were painted inside the numbers , an iconic logo was born. Noted from the Acala Family... thanks.

    Hello,

During our hot rod days, we never gave a Track-T style roadster any second looks. It must have been our liking of the “squarish” 27 Ford small grille or even the chopped version of the Model A grille.
Here are some photos of the Hunter, Hill Acala Roadster against some powerful competition at Lion’s Dragstrip during the 1959-60 era.

In 2017, the original Lion’s Dragstrip Museum opened to the local racers and enthusiasts. The museum had several interesting displays, one of which was the original, Hill Acala Track T Roadster. It was if time stopped still in 1959 and out popped the original Red roadster with the original version of the Moon eyes. Above the Red Roadster was a large screen playing all of my early Lion’s Dragstrip films that my brother and I took over those days of racing and just lounging around.

    from @296ardun
“One of the fathers of organized drag racing, Creighton Hunter in his roadster at Santa Ana. Creighton was the money guy and partner to C.J Hart at Santa Ana. One story going around is that the eyeballs on the side of this car were the inspiration for Dean Moon's Mooneyes logo....I think that this roadster has been restored, anyone else?”

    From @Dean Lowe
“The Hunter roadster was displayed at the NHRA Museum a couple years ago. It's not really restored. Just cleaned up and touched up a little, and put in running order. Creighton sold it to Hill Alcalla who drag raced the shit out of it for years, always with the flathead motor. It's still in the family. Hill's son now owns it, and is the one who got it back in shape.

Here's a photo I took of the roadster at Pomona in 1959. The car has not changed!”

    upload_2022-10-29_4-19-54.png

    From Greg Sharp:
"…Still, in little more than a decade, Hunter and Alcala collectively amassed more than 200 trophies, beating everything from blown-overhead street roadsters to mid-engine modifieds, running in the high 10s at nearly 130 mph.

Racing the roadster was an Alcala family outing. Hill did the tuning and driving, but he always had a substantial pit crew headed by his brother, Ruben, wife, Frances, daughter, Rosalie, and lots of uncles and cousins, including uncle Julian Alvarez."

The following photos are from a Hot Rod Magazine photo story on Creighton Hunter’s car owned by Hill Acala.

Finally, I just happen to have taken some movies of the Hunter/Acala Red Roadster at Lions Dragstrip in 1959-60 racing well. But, it was not as pretty in the 1960 Bakersfield Smokers meet: The Flathead against the all powerful and fast Speed Sport Special Roadster. But, that took a lot of “chutzpah” in the elimination race… What a cool 24 T body race car and racer…

I got zero history on my '30 Coupester from the previous owner other than "I got it from a friend, all I know is it's an old hot rod". Was a Sport Coupe with a rumble seat, the most noticeable thing about it is the way the doors are cut down and pipe is welded around the perimeter, the body doesn't flex at all. It's channeled over a boxed and stepped frame, '40s front brakes, 10 bolt rear with 4 link, SBC crate motor and TH350, seat is out of the way back of a station wagon. It had a fire several years ago and was repaired - new wiring harness, a couple new gauges, new fuel lines, new distributor, repainted firewall.

I first saw the car in a for sale ad 3 years ago and fell in love with it. Tried to make a deal a couple of times, no dice. This year I came into a little money, called the guy just in case he still had it and he did. We worked it out and I brought it home. I've made a few minor changes - wheels and tires, air cleaners, and a mexican blanket upholstery upgrade. Goes down the road great, no shimmy, shake, or wobbles. Does have an off idle flat spot but the end carbs are regular two barrels, just ordered the proper bases for them, hopefully that will fix it. Other than these few things it's going to stay pretty much the way it is, just fix and upgrade as it needs it.

    As I bought it-
