I believe it's a Saginaw type steering box.
My crossmember is moved forward by 1 in which makes the wheelbase 1 in longer... The location of my steering box is arbitrary because of this. I believe the proper way to set up the location of the steering box is so that with your axle and spindles mounted properly, with the pitman arm at 90°, the steering arm should be perpendicular to the axis of the chassis.

Trying to coordinate people these days is a total mess (I have better terminology for that, but don't want to be censored). Painters and sandblasters alike have big problems getting help and are backed up. Slowly but surely, at least it is progressing

 

Are there special fasteners to mate these backing plates to these spindles?
I'm assuming the nut goes on the inside...

 

Grade 8 usually, nut goes inside with lock washer. At least that is how most of the ones I have seen are mounted.

 

If you are using the grease shields like Henry intended (I can hear a forehead getting all scrunched up), they are used with a special square headed bolt, and the nut goes on the outside. If you are not using grease shields, you can do whatever you want.

 

Cerakote-C on the exhaust. The stuff sprays like a dream and comes pre-mixed. Holds up.to 1800 degrees F. Only used half a pint, cost $70. Like my paint booth?

 

What color is that coating, silver or gunmetal hard to tell from the photos.
Does it need to be heat cured or air dry.

 

I plan on doing my exhaust system in that color, I've heard it referred to as "titanium".

 

It's called Glacier Forge - it's silver, but a little on the graphite side. If you want bright silver, the nickel color is a better bet. Yes, air dry - dry to touch in a few hours, can be handled in 24 hours,vfully cured in 5 days.

Body came back from painting today. I'm very happy with the custom color base/clear and the painter did an awesome job!

It's darker and more on the brown side than the DP75 primer that was on it. Went through all these spray-outs to get it right

 

Good thing it wasn't grey, otherwise you would have had to do 50.
