If you search on eBay for just stainless mesh there’s a bunch of different sizes available pretty cheap

It’s been a little bit since the last update but there’s lots of progress going on!
Before taking the car apart I repaired the old beat in and brazed fill job on the shell.

Also extended the inner pan back up to the bottom of the radiator to hide the crossmember and hopefully it helps in cooling as well.

Rebuilt the F100 steering box in preparation of paint.

Had to move the generator to the passenger side so it wouldn’t interfere with the carb linkage. It’s a late 50’s Corvette Tach drive unit on a custom mount to get everything to jive.

Once that was done I tore the car completely apart and sandblast- bodywork - paint you know the deal. I hung as much stuff as I could and still walk around in the garage. In hindsight that was a mistake but it made a big push forward.

Here’s the paint out in the sun this shows more of it’s true color. It’s 1955 Corvette Pennant Blue.

I’m really happy with the color!

Thanks man, I’m not 100% sure but I think it’s from running it too far out of adjustment.

Was able get some paint on another round of parts last night!

I'm thinking I’ll have to paint the body with it mounted on the chassis because it moves around way to much on its own. So I’ll probably paint the chassis and underside of the body next and then marry the two before body working the car.

Set up the hood and paint it with the same batch of paint that you use on the body. Car is looking really nice. Bob

Thanks man, The ladder rack works great for this I get about 20’ of area to hang stuff. I had at least 400lbs on it the last round.

This firewall was an absolute time bandit from the start. There is 6 inches sectioned out of the middle, about 20 holes filled and cracks repaired. The feet are flipped side to side and a clutch/brake mount made from 1/4” plate molded in. The pitting required a skim and healthy dose of polyester primer to get it mostly smooth again. 1B72EC43-E17D-42E3-98C3-2327BE881E82.jpeg

I feel your pain! I once welded up 80 holes in the firewall of my 47 Ford coupe! Got so good I could almost hang Mig weld in mid air! LOL!;)

Nice firewall, I really appreciate keeping the original flavor and beads. Even the indent for the pedal hinge.

I'm working on a '27 touring and one of my doors has 75 rust pinholes I need to weld up on the skin (about half done). Will still be easier than fabricating patches, as the holes are all over.

Put some Ford Wimbledon white on the steering wheel and the grill bars, man it pop’s against the blue! B002B711-DF78-48B8-90CE-DCECA3021EC8.jpeg B83CCB3C-7EE8-4176-90D5-35775521BE37.jpeg

Was able to get the chassis painted last weekend as well as jamb the deck lid and doors. Moving on to the body now, hopefully get it ironed out before winter hits. 4AC4EE5F-A975-4B7E-8E8E-3889A37BD3D5.jpeg E3FDB35E-E10B-4FCF-84F6-A1667AB0D322.jpeg

Some not so fun or interesting work going on lately on the roadster. Rigged up this containment tent to get the underneath and inside of the body blasted without making to much of a mess.

After that was done it got a good couple coats of epoxy primer, seam sealer and some paint!

I did a lot of hammer and dolly work on it before painting the inside, this brookville body may be rot free but good grief there is very little sheetmetal that is straight or crisp on it .

Lastly a big shot of motivation came when I scored a set of one of the coolest hot rod accessories imo 16” Lyon caps for the roadster!

Is the drop in the frame rails/front crossmember there to keep the grill & shell unchopped or chopped less? This has been a great build, hope it motivated a few to make some progress on theirs. Bob
