Cool car, great re-birth can I use that term? Haha & interesting conversation along the way!

  2. Thank you! I think rebirth is probably the best term

    Question,
Are the frame boxing plates fully welded in all the way around?
Or are they stitch welded in various places?
It looks like it in the photos.
Will they be fully welded later after the frame design is finished and all the mounting is worked out?

  4. At the moment they are only stitched welded all the way around, I still have a transmission crossmember and the k member to weld in, once everything is welded on the frame it’ll probably take me a full day of fully welding the whole frame

I understand. I have done it too.
It is all the frame flipping and the jumping back and forth from rail to rail keeping the heat down so you don't warp it that takes all the time.
I'll be watching. I want to see it's rebirth.

  6. Labor of love that’s for sure haha, thank you!

  12. Hi guys! Still working here! Just had to wait for parts! I couldn’t weld in the motor mounts without having the right tires so I could set the motor/tranny at the correct angle, parts coming in now! Here is a picture of our rims and “moc” up tires, we plan on getting the same size white wall pie crust cheater slicks! First picture is the original rim, second picture is the new rim! Roger found them after we purchased all new wheels, these are an odd bolt pattern so going to run the new stuff! Luckily we picked the same style as original

  15. Back on track! Finally got some parts in that I have been waiting for! Got the motor mounts in and the transmission mount, picked up a 700 transmission too so should be a good highway driver, axle is from a 1954 F100 with 3.92 gears, the original Blue Martian axle was blown and will need a new 3rd member, I plan to use the F1 rear axle and eventually rebuild the original Blue Martian rear axle and swap them out!

  16. Welded on some spring perches from Millworks Hotrod, pinion angle set to 3 degrees and perches welded at 0 degrees, I do the 3 up 3 down rule

I think they saw a lot less activity than the average daily...and many times it is more robust than one would imagine...

The other thing was if anything was to happen it was probably limped back to the place where repairs were enacted and maybe even some things were reconsidered for a stronger solution...

As you say there surely were mechanical/structural tragedies that may have killed and maimed perhaps even being blamed on other things...

LLC certainly has the opportunity and expertise to go through the vintage canvas and upgrade or repair...at his discretion...all the while trying to keep soul intact...

Looks pretty spot on to me...The original rear tires looked taller filling the well more but it seems you have accommodated that with space above to run a taller rear if that is the plan...It really has a simplistic look about it which is common in Hotrod...but oozing with style

It may just be the angle of the picture, but the original looks like it has a slight bit more rake to it.
Is the depth of the channel still the same?

  27. Luckily I welded in braces right where the body sat on the frame, so when it went onto this frame the depth of the channel is exactly the same, the frame rake could be different though, I sadly didn’t measure that, as far as the bed it’s different because it’s angle didn’t match the angle of the cab and I wanted to correct that

  28. Made up some rear bed mounts for the frame, I used the original hood latch bracket off of the frame, welded it to a nice round stock, and now the bed height is adjustable 1BA3FE9A-49E6-4294-82A5-93ABFF14E2D4.jpeg 27391571-36A1-46CD-83D7-14CBB2445DD5.jpeg F1600AEC-FC1B-42A6-B5E3-AFB6D2E76B19.jpeg B7E380F3-BEDF-4C55-AF1E-66A5E83DC9BE.jpeg
