294618890_10160052253363232_3302819429012967799_n.jpg From the Lane Museum...An unconventional car throughout, the Grataloup was built by Mssr Grataloup of France. The BSA motorcycle engine is placed next to the driver so that the majority of the weight is in the center of the car to improve handling. This car was discovered in a Citroën garage in Biarritz, France near where Mssr Grataloup resided. The Grataloup was his daily driver.

  3. I'd like to learn more about your cyclecart. The main question that'd possibly be for use in a possible project: Please tell me what wheels (and maybe tires) those are?

I'd also wouldn't mind hearing about the brakes (looks like it has four drums), front and rear axles and suspension, weight, use, performance and such.

    Thanks

That looks like a fun car. Clean it up, check out the mechanical bits and drive it.

The steering wheel on the black car is a larger diameter than the road tires. I still love it.

Just like any other sport transportation here in Fairbanks....a three wheeler would be in storage from late September til about April 15th. There are quite few of those Bombardier trikes driving around town. Some Harley trike conversions too.

I like the looks of this vehicle; reminds me of a LSR streamliner. The above picture rotates, at the website.

I like the colors, especially the orange tires.

Very interesting. Not much in terms of details. Will probably take them a year or more to be production ready.

I realize that it wouldn't be as environmentally friendly, but think of how much fun it could be powered by a 125cc or 250cc motorcycle engine.

  20. What's going on in this picture? As in, I see lower legs squeezed into the body and under the column; thighs on the steering wheel; both hands on the wheel; and a seat that barely keeps you in it. Is it foot- and hand-controlled? I see two hand levers. It looks like half of the battle is trying to maintain control of your body while maintaining control of the cyclecar.

#1) Let's remind ourselves the car was built when people were much smaller. Even the stock GN would be a squeeze for me at 6'4". So, the seat probably would have been of greater benefit to a little guy. #2) There is a foot throttle. #3) At least one lever is for shifting gears.

I can't really drive a Mazda Miata with a standard....or a Model A Ford Coupe. There's just not enough room between the left door and dash for my legs. I got into a 1932 Auburn Speedster. Same story. My legs were hitting everything. The ironic part about the Auburn was that you sit so low I had to work to see over the top of the dash over the hood.

    Well, Bob!
That was my old dream and almost realised some 6 decades ago... And, now in my 72nd year - could be only possibility to have own 4-wheel vehicle, motorised if possible... However, down-hill "racers" are quite popular here in Swiss, with a category for adult persons (big-old kids, indeed)... just to ensure my present (second) wife that such adventure is innocent and safe!
    Ciao, Zoran
P.S.: In Europe, before The Great War (later renamed The First World War), young people in Spain used a lot of downhill racers... Soon, became bored and tired of pulling them up - and, had success in adding small motorcycle engines to them! So, cyclecars were born. The first as fun and toys and later accepted as a necessity for not-so-rich people or crazy sporting adventure for richer...

I have seen many youtube videos of adults in Europe riding gravity bikes for several kilometer runs.
