This one cost $60 in 1966 ... the block & crank were still under the hood, the rest was in the trunk. Oct 20, '19 #2 038.JPG

didn't read/looked at this thread but wanted to give a heads up to anyone that might be interested that doesn't know yet and was looking for the first thread closest to the front on topic and was really looking for a Grease or Olivia thread but found this one about Mercuries first so it is going here.

Next Saturday on Aug. 20 the '49 black merc from Grease is being sold at the Mecum auction. speculation price of $600,000 to $750,000 on it. seems high to me but with Olivia dying recently and signed by her, being a movie car and I was way low on the price of the Hirota Merc. so who knows. I know it isn't as nice as the H. Merc but I would rather be driving and more comfortable in the grease car myself.

Thanks for posting, a kool car, the '51 is my favorite of the mid-centruy Mercs. But how do people get a car so right, and then pick out the equilivant of an infected pimple for a set of wheels? Easy to fix but I don't get it.

If I remember reading his website promo material correctly, this type of thing might be a topic of discussion at the Kustom Konference at @straykatkustoms Lead Ain't Dead show coming up in Sept. Wish I could be there to hear what others have to say.

Reminds me of the the old TV show, "Get Smart". The lead character had a saying "Missed it by that much!"

  25. They are bubble taillights that Gene Winfield sells and clearly uses as that is one of his builds.
