This, to me, just screams "Wicked Coupe".

You're probably right. @jnaki seems to know a lot about Lions maybe he could tell us.

    Hello,
It certainly looks as if @curbspeed is correct. The coupe photos are after our time at Lion's Dragstrip. We were off doing college and beyond. But, the telltale signs are shown in both photos.

The color aspect is obvious, but the rear chopped window has an unusual shape. Most chopped 34 5 window coupes retain the round curvature even when chopping the small window + top. Then, the valuable Hays cutch decal fits perfectly in the oddball shape of the lower front door to hood area.

Thanks for thinking of me, but the chopped coupe was later on in the years. Give credit to @rooman (If he is still around) At the time of the coupe racing, we were already in our last years of college and off on new horizons, which did not include drag racing. My wife and I went one time, to Lion's Dragstrip and left early. It just did not have the same connotation as being a participant like we were for those early years.

from Rooman: 2017 "Glen Hyder was also partnered with Tom Koulan on this car in 1966 and it also ran as Hyder and McCloud."

Pretty sure the guy standing next to the car is the original builder. I'd bet one of the CA. guys can confirm.

    Hello,

It is the iconic, Doyle Gammell 1932 ford 3 window coupe. The color is/was Cordovan Brown. The odd thing was, Cordovan Brown was also a popular dress shoe we bought for our, "had to dress up days." They were easy to shine using the old technique of putting on the Cordovan Brown shoe wax and melting it on to the front of the shoes. Instant shine, no buffing necessary...

    Then refinished by Bob Bauder:

Sometime after 1960, when people at the local dragstrips were required to move the aluminum gas tanks out of the cab and placed in the trunk or in front of the motor. A lot of people with room put it inside of the fenders and grille. (40 Willys Coupes) Others had no room, so it went in front of the radiator and grille. Yet, still, others had room, but stuck it out there anyway.

Nice, but a car insurance agent's nightmare set up.
