  3. Will do and I am aware of what’s going on. :D That was my destination in 1998 when I attended bike week on my old shovel head. Not sure what all we may do so far. It’s wing-it trip from here on out.

Second-guessing the weather has always been part of the challenge of going for a record (or even a run) on the Salt.

Congrats to all of you who gave it a shot.

There are several threads on here about the museum, here's a fairly recent one with some pics:

If you haven't been there before, be sure to allow plenty of time. Sucks about the racing cancellation but sounds like it's been a good trip so far anyway... especially for your oldest son! :)
And THANKS to all who chimed in with updates and photos. Much appreciated!

Anyone know the days and times that Speedy Bill’s Museum is open…as of late?

    Thanks!
Went there many years ago, when traveling back from Colorado, unfortunately the day I arrived was a day they were closed!

  12. Like many we had to throw the towel in on Saturday morning. While packing up our salty muddy mess we couldn't help but laugh at our circumstances. Just another testament to how awesome my wife is! Fortunately we were able to drive the off topic family truckster out from the bend in the road after a bit of coercion - aka pedal to the metal. Thankfully we had planned our trip to Bonneville on our route back to Oregon on our 6,500+ mile cross country road trip, so we weren't in too bad of shape compared to some people who had come from all over the world just for Speed Week. My heart truly goes out to all of the teams who had high hopes of competing and setting records. I know many probably think we're deranged, but we'll be back!

We still had a good time

  14. Yep. On the plus side.....had a great road trip. 1400 miles in my coupe with no issues. Got to see some old friends, and met some new ones. Saw lots of neat hot rods too.
Only 360 some days till the next Speed week!

  16. Yep, we had a good trip as well and my oldest son is already planning for next year. We ended up getting home yesterday morning after driving all night from Yellowstone. Put a little over 3000 miles on the rental car. Not near as much fun as it would have been in an old car, but I did find out that a late model R/T Charger is “equivalent” to the Malibu I reserved, so it was a little more fun than I expected it to be. :D
