Gila Monster is my all time favorite! Some good ones so far! Dirty Mary Crazy Larry IS a good one too, but no one has mentioned Dragstrip riot yet?!?! Got some cool preunit triumph guys fighting with the Corvette kids.
Low-budge Showtime movie with Kyle MacLaughlin... "Moonshine Highway." Good shots of a chopped Merc, 55 Chevy, and a mid-fifties Merc (or was it Lincoln? Been some years since I've seen it.) all straight piped tearing ass on some WRC-looking roads!
lol thats' the one don't worry the other half corrected me as soon as i got in n told her, good lass that she is shows how much attention i obviously paid huh!
Most of my favorites are already mentioned how about Gone in 60 seconds both versions and also The Car that was one wicked black car.
Pretty much every movie mentioned here, and 500 more, are described in this book. It's out of print now but there are used copies around. When I wrote it, the title I chose was Motorhead Movies, but the publisher changed it to "enhance its appeal". Then they added all the Disney flying car movies and then brought in Ron Main, who added more movies and supplied all of the pictures. The picture shows the cover art that was sent to me before the book was published in 1992. Bullitt was great. That one's a must. Heart Like a Wheel was great. One of the best. Drive a Crooked Road with Mickey Rooney from around 1951 was well done. It's good to look for movies from the 1940s and '50s. Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
Vanishing Point LeMans (Steve McQueen @200+MPH) Grand Prix (Paul Newman, James Garner, etc) Rebel Without A Cause (J.D. and the Merc!) Most of the old Perry Mason shows
Im gonna have to say Bullitt... most will say it's not really a "car movie" but with a chase seen like that it needs to be added to the list...love how McQueen has to keep double clutchin that ol mustang, and try and count how many times they pass the same VW beetle... one of the best car chases of all time.
Tinman... Kyle's car was a Lincoln, glad you mentioned that movie, for those who haven't seen it, it is def. worth renting! Love the opening scene... wonder where those cars are now?
in 1950 a movie was made called HOT ROD and thats what started it all for me A movie that turned me into a life long hot rodder Still building and still cutting holes with a torch . john the welder
vanishing point the original is my favorite !! other movies that come to mind are cannonball run ! deathcar2000 ! and corvette summer ! cheesy car movies from the 80's hahahaha
Thanx for posting the free movie, I needed somthing to do at work..Haha! So I looked for more movies and found this saftey one: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5851344091937046529&q=hot+rod&hl=en
PLot/acting the pits-but the chopped merc having the daylights drivn' out of it is one of mine in Cobra!
Ya gotta check out "Things to do" It's at blockbuster in the foriegn film section. My old 60 ElCamino's in most of the scenes. Pretty goofy movie but it's good for a laff.
Thunder Road was incredible. Bad ass 57 Fords in wild police chases, illegal moonshine, turf rivalry...what more can one ask for. As kick ass as the 55 Chevy from "Two Lane Blacktop" is, that is almost completely offset by how huge a vagina James Taylor is. Sweet baby James...what a pussy
let's here some of your songs. that's what i thought. and yes, his music is "soft" , but i always loved the song Mexico.
