Buster & Crickets Gas Station, Country Store, & Trading Post in Ben Hill, Georgia This store was run by Buster Sutton and his wife Cricket. For promotion, Buster set up a raffle for fuel purchases and once a year would give away a nice used Model A Ford.
Don’s Chat & Chew/Wendy’s Fireside, 128 State Road – A place with one of the area’s most unique names, Don’s Chat and Chew was opened in 1956 by Donald Vincent. The 24-hour restaurant, which was known as “the Place with a Fireplace,” was a popular late-night spot where folks would grab a bite to eat after some of the local taverns and drinking establishments closed. Cape Ann Diner, 68 Main St. – Was owned and operated by Arvo Niemi, who had the diner brought to Westminster from Gloucester on June 17, 1948, retaining its original name. It was located adjacent to a gas station Niemi owned and was placed on the site of the old Westminster Hotel, which had burned down in March of that year. According to the website Dinerhotline edited by Larry Cultrera, Niemi decided to leave the name of the diner Cape Ann, mainly because he did not want to spend the money for new porcelain-enameled steel panels.
