    It was 1am and I just couldn’t get both sides to pop, crank wanted to lift out.

    Yeah it’s hard finding something that fits. I think Pete and jakes makes a supper short one that should fit.

    Okay, I didnt think your car was that LOW. Dang, I have plans for a 48 and assumed I could use some of the shocks that I have.... oh well..

    I’ll let you know how long of shock I really need once I get a motor back in it. I’m using 47-8 front shock mounts this time hopefully it’ll give me some more room.

    In retrospect using a lower shock mount off the bottom of the perch pin bolt would have given me a lot more room for a shock.

    Quick update, hunting for a new motor. It was just bad news at every turn taking it apart. It could be fixed but for the time and money involved I think it’s probably the better move to take all the good stuff and put it on the shelf and find a new beginning.

    not what I wanted to find but I’d rather find it in the shop than the side of the road. Genuinely surprised that it didn’t make any funny noise or even smoke yet looked that bad inside.

    guess it just wanted to make sure I got home. Chevys are good for that.

    Dang! Well thankfully hot rodders are all good to come threw in a pinch and @raven has a new mill set aside for me! Taking on new commission artwork to cover the tab if anyone needs a cool

    Brought my Louvered hood! Sat it right down over the gapping engine bay and I love it right away! Gonna do the underside off white like the firewall and the top black. Still thinking over the pin stripes, trim and color inside of the louvers options. But it sure makes me happy to see it!

    Whew! What a ride so far... Your '46 is a true jewel,
    My '47 is a Fordor, have had a few '46es, first one was a Tudor, like yours:
    I chopped the front cross member, flattened it 4". Mor-Drop front axle, flattened spring, reversed eyes and shackles.
    (Same as yours, but deep drop on '32 axle. Tires were 8.20 X 15 rear, 6.40 X 15 front) "Mad rake".
    After that one, I bought a $12 '46 club coupe. No rust, perfect body. That one got a 331 Chrys hemi. My fordor was a gift from a friend, no rust. Its story will be similar to your excellent thread. Thanks.

    In your story, you mentioned the 6 cyl. cars had different radiator 'core supports'. Was that the only difference between 6 and 8?

    Yeah off the top of my head the yoke/ shroud radiator area is all that’s different other than a 6 on the hood instead of an 8. I’ve got some books that may tell me more but I’ve never dug in to find out

    Thanks @n847 im super into it! Can’t wait to get it all together with a fresh motor and trans under it! 0AA72533-5279-41E7-B140-EA23858F9FC0.jpeg started some new painting commissions this morning. Hopefully we’ll be back on the road this season

    Kinda considering a bull nose strip on the nose. I’ve used them in shoe box fords before but I don’t know if I’ve seen it on an earlier car before.

    figure I could make it out of aluminum or stainless stock and shape/ polish it.

    just a random thought

  21. I have a sheet of polished stainless in the garage. Soft stainless so easy to work with. When the time comes, we can cut you a chunk of it.

    Cool! It’s just sitting there for now I’ll paint it and bolt it on after the engine is in.

    Couple sold paintings. I think getting a good photo of a painting is an entire art form to itself… of which I know nearly nothing of lol.
