About a year ago i got the news that my friend and past customer Ed Ward out of Milwaukee Wi had passed, Ed owned an amazing 32 ford roadster that he bought in 1958, here is the link to the original post on the car:

I had been in touch with the family for the last year, i had told them i would love a chance at buying the car when they were ready to do so. Well i got a email last week that the car was mine and i could go pic it up. After Ed had passed the car had been moved to Eau Claire which is only about an hour from me, so i hooked up the trailer and hopped in the truck and head east. This is what greeted me when i pulled up!!

I hadnt seen the car for probably 8 years but it was just as damn cool as it was the day i delivered it back to him. here it is at its new home.

Heres the Pabst Motors dealership Ed bought it at:
    21-TOP-Pabst-Motors-3101-N-Oakland.jpg

The history before Ed bought the car is a little foggy, it was supose to have been owned by Tom Friedman, Toms parents owned Schusters Department store in Milwaukee, he like racing cars and the car was supose to be road raced, Tom died at Road America in 1955, but Ed bought the car in 1958, what happened to the car for 3 years? and who built it originally? it has so many awesome hand made parts, it was also equipped with a built flathead with Grancor heads and intake, one time someone said that Andy Granatelli had a 32 roadster? was this it? Milwaukee is close to Chicago, it was Grancor equipped and it was a nice build for back in the day.......the search for info continues, i got in touch with Augie Pabst III, his father Augie Jr sold the car to Ed in 1958, Augie said he didnt think his father would remember the car but i was hoping hed possibly show him the pics and ask but well see. Augie got me in touch with Bob Birmingham who worked at the dealer but not until 1959, so he is going to talk to a couple of buddies that were around racing in the early 50s. lets keep our fingers crossed i can find some more info.

That is some pedigree! Pabst won a USAC & SCCA national title & then drove for some guys named Mecum & Cunningham!

    RIP to your friend.

What an incredibly cool example of a period hot rod. I am glad that the torch was pasted to you. You are now it's caretaker and rightfully so. Enjoy it and please update us with any additional history on it you find out.

D Y N A M I T E. Very cool story and full of treasured memories. The family certainly chose the right caretaker. Ed may not be with us but his spirt lives on every time you are out on the highway. Nice.

  27. Congrats on becoming the new caretaker of the car. Lot of neat history. Why did your friend leave it buried in the garage for 54 years? Good that he did get it out and hopefully enjoyed it again after the long period of hibernation.
