Wow…what a day…left the house at 8:00 am and pulled back in at 12:30 am…phone died, so my pics were limited…one thing I love is the vintage floppers of my childhood ( 70’s kid ) and while not HAMB friendly…still bad ass! And getting to see the Chi Town Hustler make a couple passes was amazing…the Blown Gassers put on a hell of a show…the Great Lakes Gassers always are great…bummed about the lack of swap meet folks..but the weather looked like crap and turned out pretty damn perfect…again apologize for lack of pics..but here’s what I got..
The Chevamoco is Bobby Lagana old car from the mid 60s. He used to drag race at Dover Drag Strip in Windale, New York. Jimbo
He was very proud of his trophy.. we spoke for a few in the food line…glad he was able to bring it out
Wow, great pictures. Used to go to many car shows and drags in the Detroit area and I've always felt if you ever wanted to see great show and drag cars it's hard to beat the Detroit area for it.
Dan, Sadly we lose many of those that made the Automotive Culture what is was on a daily basis…see a lot of funeral announcements and calls for cars at funerals a lot today.. But yes Detroit was in my opinion everything So Cal was…minus the weather…and bitd folks, especially street racing types, would enjoy their cars a little longer….today around here, October comes and you don’t see cars again until May
It was a good day. I went with a drizzle on my windshield and left with a pretty good sunburn. I agree the floppers were great as well as all the other cars. I was surprised at the number of dragsters. Would like to see a few street stocks in the future but not so sure that is in the cards. My third time to Milan this year and the first two times it rained so great to see some pretty good drag racing. I thought earlier that it was 55 years ago when I attended Milan for the first time. Makes one feel old. Another great day at Milan. Happy to see that it was saved.
Jim I agree 100%..would love to see street stocks or Super Stocks added to the program. I usually take my nephews to the Heads Up events and they’re jaded to anything that’s not going 190 mph.. I showed them the Grumpys Toy Vega and explained how in its day the original version of this car was the top Pro Stock Car in its day…and how Grump would run down the track with a stogie in his mouth…they wanted to go see the 200 mph cars…no respect… was a great day and the track was packed
