    Thanks! I think the Ball Stud Hemi was slated to use the Carter Thermoquad.

    old thread, worth reviving...per old ads posted previous in this thread-
    it was the DOMINATOR carbs that Ford contracted to Holley to develop, for the NASCAR BOSS 429, in the late 1960's. By 1970 Holley had released them for sale to the entire performance market, for all makes.
    the previous Holley 3150/3160 three-barrel in 950cfm (4 booster venturis) and 1050cfm (secondary discharge tubes like Qjet, Thermoquad) was first developed and used in 1964 July 4 NASCAR race for the 426 HEMI....
    however, I'd yet to actually SEE a model "3150" which technically should have metering blocks on both front and back bowls. I HAVE seen mechanical linkage secondaries, extended accelerator pump discharge squirters on secondaries, on Ebay Holley 3-barrel carbs.
    the 3-barrels ran quite good for their time. there was a 1970 Olds 442 W-30 on Ebay, with story about how he bought an intake, 3-barrel, raced it for years, ran mid-high 12's bone stock, cam, heads, no porting, Muncie close ratio, full interior, factory weight.
    That's banging on 4000 lb. w/driver.

    950=4 downlegs
    1050=secondary discharge tubes

    that's what a 3150 "should" look like, because the "-50" suffix is supposed to mean, dual metering blocks, no metering plate on secondaries.

    A good friend had a 950 3 barrel on a 455 Olds jet boat. It was only a 15-1/2’ which a lot of guys he raced never figured out. It was always fast but with the 950 was much better.

    I had one in a 1400 lb T bucket , chevy counter part LT-1 ( 1970 ) tarantula intake , turbo 400 . Loved it , want another . Still have the car . I could just neutral drop it and leave in second gear , it would shiftfrom 1-2 at about 5500 rpm , when the third barrel opened it was like a nitrous hit . Of course this was 1973 and I was 17 so ...

    There seems to be some confusion on model types:

    Holley 3150 (CFM not specified) List number 3680

    Holley 3160 (950 CFM) List number 3085
    Holley 3160 (950 CFM) List number 3916
    Holley 3160 (1050 CFM) List number 4604

    Have been sold out for decades, but had several 3916 and 4604 units. Don't remember ever having a 3085 or 3680.

  18. I used a spacer on my Hemi manifold. I modified a CI 354 manifold for my long-bell 331 engine. I bored the engine 1/8" over and used 354 pistons to convert it to the larger displacement.
    Here are photos of how I modified it.

    I bored out the ports on the stock manifold using an adaptor as a guide.

    I cut the web out of the adaptor to accommodate the oval plate.

    I ended up sending my last 3 950's down to OZ but kept the last 1050 as a reminder of younger days...those were the days my friends....

    Sorry gone a while ago. Not sure if I still have the 3-barrel carb or not.
