Hello, When we spent many hours behind the steering wheel of the 58 Impala at the drags and just cruising around since the fall of 1957, it spoke to us in many different ways. The top subject being to have fun in anything we did while driving, but, driving safely. During the course of driving the 58 Impala, my brother did not get any tickets for a moving violation. I got one for a 28 mph in a 25 school zone by a radar. By the way, the radar was not in the school zone, (three blocks away) but I still got the ticket. So, overall, we were always having fun and drove safely. Afterall, it was our daily driver to school, work and daily play. Sometimes despite being a hot rod sedan, drag racer and cruiser, it was a way to get to the beaches for some surfing, too. All in all, we took good care of the Impala from day one and it never gave us any problems in reliability or having fun at a moment’s notice. Jnaki This is what the Impala would have told us in 1960-61. “I have the power (300 hp+?), the set up (C&O Stick Hydro, Racer Brown Cam/Kit, ported/polished heads, + Positraction), and some experience in handling… So, hang on, get a great start and step on the gas at the drop of the elbow or end of the yellow light.” Cherry Avenue acceleration Terminal Island freeway behind our Westside of Long Beach house: Heading West toward Belmont Shore and Downtown Long Beach Westminster Avenue drags:

Made me spray coffee out my nose, been looking for that socket a long time and can still hear it rattling around in there somewhere...
The Power, Skirts and Stance you gave me got me ready for backseat romance, ah! careful don't hurt my seat springs.
I did a thread, long time ago, like this. I was thinking one night...I wonder if this was someone's first car. Did they loose their virginity in it...was it taken on vacations...was it raced...was it just to get to work...did it get handed down through the family...did it drive the kids to school...where did it come from...was it treated well? If it could only tell the story. etc etc...Great fun thinking about it all.
