Just a quick update on the old girl… still running good and just finished up another road trip. This time much shorter and just 4 days round trip. We visited family in Pittsburgh and hit the 911 memorial for flight 93. We stopped at some cool spots along the way there and on the way home. We had to see the Largest Coffee Pot in Pennsylvania for gods sake!!! 17AA8BB8-3FA9-4B14-A50F-D5869DD92F91.jpeg FFF102D9-62A5-449A-880C-CB0D12DE7167.jpeg

On the way to Pittsburgh we found this really nice park by the river to stretch our legs. Flight 93 was amazing… explaining to my children what happened was tough but I wanted them to understand. Highly suggest stopping there if you’re ever in that area. 14D83B55-856F-49AC-9253-4C4BD3867984.jpeg 0524B747-6BBF-4309-B6B5-23636AD66345.jpeg 4828BC25-1EB7-41ED-A913-F4F218792199.jpeg C2E2FA34-F497-443E-9D04-005A5923A4B8.jpeg

A lot of just pulling over to check stuff out. Abandon buildings left along the roads are always strangely some of our favorite destinations. I guess it reminds us of Route 66. lol Here’s a few pics from the old Lincoln Highway. 91FCCED6-82FA-42C7-AC62-0D6271D007B1.jpeg 63A1A3A2-805D-493C-96A0-8D1D6D6CFB54.jpeg 77CA1DE0-70B0-44C2-BE75-1248A9242767.jpeg 3AE5D79D-7FAB-426E-8F3C-8FB9EB00FF3F.jpeg F8ECCD1F-912D-4467-928C-5893C41DCDF8.jpeg 45C35FD1-3F89-4155-AE7C-4BD91976CA13.jpeg E20A5749-B182-4570-AC15-86336C05A752.jpeg F8741430-0C17-4F30-8459-836000290A53.jpeg CEC78738-306A-41BE-938C-548355DCDB49.jpeg 3A8140A6-FE10-49E2-AC96-263F90077AEC.jpeg 07174AFE-27AF-44C5-8C30-F8B6197E8CF6.jpeg 746A90BC-FB35-4494-8552-846C22EA6CFA.jpeg F55E2E1C-D64B-40F4-9F0E-E6EED3A49800.jpeg 0F8D19A7-5E89-4EB1-B8F5-ED003451D374.jpeg 0D7CFD73-F6A5-47F0-92EB-ACB12D7B26B1.jpeg F93A6B1D-EC5E-4DB2-9619-00D89E06B4C9.jpeg 1D78504A-E5D3-4A95-A976-15BF31BEA5BB.jpeg

Yes Sir! I unfortunately grew up and didn’t see much of anything. Let alone travel this wonderful country we live in. I honestly can’t explain how much my family loves these road trips. It’s probably the only time my kids aren’t arguing with each other. Lol

  10. Great to see that the tradition is continuing. No clutch problems on this trip, apparently. Did you get to ride the funicular?

We did the Lincoln highway going both east and west in our old coupe. Great trip. We also did the National road.
What fun. I enjoyed thanks for sharing.
The National road also has traffic slowing S bridges. Cool as hell. 8DB01075-7AD1-4BB9-A825-4423DAA5C3C1.jpeg 39B68BF9-50FA-4A17-BC3D-AB4FEB90B9C9.jpeg 8DB01075-7AD1-4BB9-A825-4423DAA5C3C1.jpeg

  15. Thanks for the update and recent road trip pics. Looks like a great time! Glad you are enjoying your kids now. Mine are all driving now other than my youngest, so the long road trips with all of us in one car are a thing of the past. Now, they want to take their cars too. :D

Your photo’s remind me of growing up in the sixties when my folks were buying Ford wagons, great times for a kid…

Many road trips with my four kids in my since sold big block '93 'Burb. 450,000 miles when I passed it on to the new owner. It wasn't an old car like you're doing, but the memories are still there for them. Pics look great. Kids are growing up and they look great too. Take a few more road trips quick! They are approaching the ages when that will not happen anymore. Awesome.

  22. Thanks for sharing with us again. Awesome pics. I particularly enjoyed the memorial mural on the old building. Also almost unbelievable you have a teenage daughter who is going along with smiles on her face! Great job raising a family!! Without me going back and reading the entire thread, weren't you the one that broke down in near Santa Rosa, NM, and was fixed up pretty quickly by Bozo's Garage? I'm doing a car show there Sept 16/17.

@Driveway builder its great to see the wagon and family out on the road enjoying this wonderful country of ours.

More great times, more cool things checked out and more things you get to share and talk about with your family now and for years to come.

    One of my favorite threads.

You are creating the "Wonder Years" for your kids.

A complete Lincoln Highway trip would be fun if you can find it, so many alignments. But there were several versions of 66 too.

Very cool. Don't know why you would even consider changing to a v8 and auto. Nothing at all wrong with a six and 3 on the tree. It's still only 2 gear shifts to get into top gear. A 3 speed auto would be no real advantage. How cool.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing all your adventures. Did you take the Rambler on the “Tail of the Dragon” when you were in the Smokey Mountains? I am sure the local car/bike enthusiasts would have loved to see her winding around 318 curves in 11 miles at “Rambling Man” speeds!!!
    Great stuff

I know! It sucks because we lost two years during Covid. Not that we were afraid to leave our house… but because everything was closed. Thank God we did the Route 66 trip the year before covid. We may have never got into road-tripping and never had the great memories. I’m hoping since my daughter likes doing them we should have a few more years left before college. We keep talking about going northwest or south to Florida. We’ll see… :)
