We ran accross this beauty off the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota.

    What do you think it is? Its a BIG car with a hemi? IMG_0278.jpg IMG_0279.jpg IMG_0280.jpg IMG_0281.jpg IMG_0282.jpg IMG_0283.jpg IMG_0284.jpg IMG_0285.jpg IMG_0286.jpg IMG_0287.jpg

I was just thinking, maybe like the rest of em, where the heck is that? So I googled it to discover that it's not just 57 miles of exploration, but 57 miles of paved exploration.
Where about in the hiking did you find what now seems to be identified as a Desoto?

Well someone knows the story of if it ran to get there where it ended up. I think the instant before it did it was running just fine.

I was looking at the pictures, the scattered remains of the car, and I deduced my own story of why it got left behind.
I mean if you think about it, a 53 Desoto, a rural Minnesota road back in the day...I'm just wondering if there is a steep hill close by.

The best way to get it running again is. Lift the remaining valve cover and slide a running motor under it

Yep, 55 DeSoto. The grille teeth would have some value.

I think I’d be going back with a shovel and doing a little archeological dig around the hemi. I mean it has a newer GM alt on it so it may have been running not long ago. And it ain’t that rusty. The paint still has kind of a shine to it. But most of all there is still some signs of upholstery. Yea, I’d dig it up!
Anthony M. could probably save that body, might take him a week or 2 to get it straight and patched up.

The DeSoto's had their name on the plug wire cover, which is missing on this car.

So is this an archeological find that should be preserved rather than disturbed.....ergo an "elephant" graveyard?

It looks like a desert flash flood victim, but in the middle of the forest?
Partially dissected, it looks like an alien abduction to me.
In a galaxy far, far away a highly advanced race of beings is driving vehicles based on alien technology; 1955 Desoto 4 doors.......
