I've got an old mild custom 58 ford fairlane 500 sitting in my yard that I'm thinking about putting together because I dont see many built into customs. This one already has a bunch of touches done back in the 90s like shaved door handles, frenched antennas, grill welded to fenders, etc. I'm just looking for some more custom ideas for it. I have a set of Chrysler headlight rings for it that look cool. I also wanted to extend the fins a little to make the roof look a little lower without chopping it. I've looked through my custom car yearbooks and found a couple of car ideas. I just wondered if any of you are building anything cool like mine.
That's a good looking car. Theres a purple one that I really like but I cant remember the builders name. It's like Johnny something. The car was built in the 60s I believe. it had a bunch of 59 Cadillac taillights across the back of it. I have pictures saved of it somewhere.
I sold my '58 a while back, in order to move on to something new (old).... The Fairlane had a '57 clip into which I incorporated '58 headlights. No small feat !! I rounded the hood corners and reshaped the grille cavity to get rid of the headlight bulges... I had a '59 grille cut and reshaped to fit the opening and contours, but never installed it. The rear had a '57 custom 300 bumper and '59 Bonneville taillights, cut and spliced to fit. It took 2 sets to fit the opening properly. People don't just give those puppies away !!! I mixed the correct yellow pearl and candy green to match what I was looking for... That being the same colors and scallops Watson applied on LeFevre's '59 El Camino. Then I realized the mill that someone had planted in that old Ford was a 429 Thunderjet with a few mod's. So off to the races I went. The rest is history !!! By the way, it was quite low when it went away...
I'm not any help but either a 57 or 8 2 door hardtop that has been lowered some is about as good from the factory as there was imho. They had beautiful lines. A few small changes are all they need. Good luck with your project.
Saw this on IG credit to Kustomrama I hope to find more pics of it. The roof tells me it’s a 58. also this Kustom Ranchero posted in the stories.
Hey Stefan !! I like what you have done to your '58. I'm not normally a fan of radical custom work, but you've pulled it off well.
Damn!!! Stephan. Thanks for posting that. Hopefully the OP gets inspirations. That ‘58 is a real space ship- Radical man!!! Love it.
This is a really nice use of customization. The 57 lower front fenders and splash pan with the 57 bumper and 59 grill. Very cool.
