    Hello,

Ever since my wife and I have been together, she has always fixed a treat for the 4th of July. Back in the day of all day beach parties, well into the night, would cause havoc these days. But, at 20 somethings, at the time, who cared… we were having fun.
    upload_2021-7-4_16-46-20.png
The red 327 powered, 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery was a big hit at those parties, when it was parked in front of the scene. The red just stood out. But, the hit of the gatherings was the special Red/White/Blue, strawberry Jello infused, cake with Cool Whip, fresh Strawberries and Blueberries for accents.

Sometimes, in the frenzy to “eat more cake…” the stomach does not see what the eye sees and more.

So, for the past year of no contact pandemic rules and safety, here is the latest 2021 cake. By this time in the afternoon, the cake is half gone for a good cause.

The sedan delivery is a memory that started the flavorful adventures and solidified my wife as an excellent creative cook. Our son and granddaughter will attest to that. YRMV

The last remnant old folks' white bench and supplied goodies.

Hopefully, the "Big Bay Boom" in the SD Harbor will not be a bust like it was several years ago...

Stay safe and... it is not over, yet.

    Hello,

When my brother and I were in the throes of building our first version of the SBC 1940 Willys Coupe, we thought we needed some help. So, he decided to create a speed shop and print some business cards.
    upload_2022-7-4_5-29-17.png

He knew there would be some confusion if his name alone was on the card. But he solved it by putting J. on the front of the card and that before we gave out the cards, we would sign it on the back with our own names. This worked well as the big hot rod business dealers and warehouses thought we were a speed shop (legally we had a license) and sold to our own customers. We were a business, a small one at that, but it still was a legal transaction business. it was just run out of our backyard garage for storage of parts and supplies.

All along, we wanted a pickup truck, but the ones we liked were too large to roll into the far reaches of the backyard to load and unload stuff. So, we threw around a lot of choices for what we wanted and that we could work with it driving it back to the lifting garage door. Our Willys Coupe could easily drive into and out of the backyard, as it was smaller than a full size truck.

A Model A RPU was also considered and looked like the main candidate. But, because we built the 40 Willys Coupe, we decided that if we built another one, it would be an open roadster Willys pickup. So, the tow package would be a coupe following a similar 40 Willys RPU to the local Lion’s Dragstrip and other So Cal drag races.
    upload_2022-7-4_5-50-37.png
At first, the 40 Willys RPU was going to be yellow as my brother wanted the finished, 1940 Coupe to be yellow. But, we aren’t attention drawing teenagers, so a pearl white version with mild scallops was the proposed plan.
    upload_2022-7-4_5-51-23.png
The white 40 Willys RPU would have been a cool high school hot rod/cruiser for those Friday and Saturday night activities.
