Motion Pictures How far would you drive for a hypothetical HAMB get-together?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SDS, Jun 29, 2022.

  1. Just name the date Matt! I need to get up there to see my brother anyway. :D

  2. No, we used to meet up at the GNRS in front of the Suede Palace. Don't recall any at the LARS. I used to set up my EZ UP with my HAMB banner at the LARS, if that's what you mean...

With that many people invited, do we need to bring our own parking space or do you have that covered too?

@SDS I'll come up to the seacoast of NH, hahahaha!!
I usually run into HAMB guys at the Epping swap meet. "Hey, you're wheeldog57 right?"
Yes I am "well I'm so and so, I've been following you on the HAMB" many long conversations and friendships have started just like that. We should make up t- shirts with our handles on them and wear them to events, that'll get things going.

How far would I "hypothetically" travel to hang out with you guys?
    A million miles.
In reality? Maybe a little less.

Everyone is really spread out...seems like get-togethers would need to be regional

    Regional H.A.M.B chapters ???............ Mmmmmmm.
They could then argue amongst each other here on the forum....

  13. There's an event. You tell everyone you're going and nomiate a location to meet up. Even better, nominate a time as well. That way, anyone who wants to meet up can meet up. It's always been done like that. There used to be lots of pictures of this in the old days.

  14. Dude, we have been doing HAMB Meat and Greets for well over 20 years

  15. That is how we do it. I have even invented events to invite HAMBers

We did that a few years at Fall Wildwood. Turnout was so-so. But it was fun. Also Homemadehardtop57 on here used to promote the "HAMB and Eggs" where we would meet at various diners for a breakfast run, followed by a visit to a shop or museum or whatever. This had a great turnout and was super fun. He hasn't organized one in a while now however. Love to resurrect this gathering.

To answer your question, maybe 250 miles?

I just sold a part to a new hamber from Milgrove. He should be close enough to toss you a cold one.

Out my way you won't find anything there that is older that the 1990's.

Everything older gets scrapped immediately. There is no meaningful revenue in it, versus the spot it sits on.

Honestly about 350 miles one way. Unless I was traveling across the country.

It’s kinda funny, when I was in the Bay Area, the Fremont PnP would always have one or two “older” things in it. I/e from the early 60’s. This was up through 2000. The close one to me is in Modesto, and is just like you mention. What’s odd (since I work close to the one in Stockton) is the Stockton PnP every once in a while has a complete vintage (only seen 50’s) vehicle there. Nothing I can use off it, but I shake my head for the what, 50 bucks someone got to have it hauled off?

  28. I’m boring.
My favorite beverage is Dr Pepper or Mr Pibb
Married, don’t do the bar scene unless there is a good band.
I listen to most anything not rap or new country
My car tastes are weird (by HAMB standards, probably)
    Don’t fish or hunt.
I love art even if I don’t know what the crap I’m looking at.
A perfect evening would include loony toons or anything Tex Avery

I can respect that. But if by chance I get to “somewhere in Alabama” and I pm you, promise to show up without the bikini?
