Customs Pics of 58 Chevies

A few photos I got a few months back in a pile of Taboo stuff of the cars twin, a 58 Convertible built and owned by Walt Nichols

Thanks for showing what a massive amount of Chevy grille teeth would look like in a 1958 Impala.

A friend in school had a 1953 Chevy sedan. He had the most customized look of any of our high school hot rods/custom cars. A complete white tuck and roll upholstery, everywhere including the trunk, lowered with chrome wheels and a new greenish paint color rounded out his look. It was a stock motor and he kept it that way. He liked the look of those tubular bars and wanted to know how much work it would take to change over. I told him we could do it over a weekend.

That was an idea of a start of a changeover for both of our cars. I would take his grille teeth and put them on my 1958 Impala. We would get the tubular grille bars and install them in his Chevy grille opening.

It was not a custom job, but there were complete chrome grilles pre-sized to fit almost every popular sedan grille opening from the factories. It was cost and labor that was the hold up. Labor was free as we were going to exchange the grilles between his Chevy sedan and my 58 Impala.

My brother was all for that exchange. He also wanted to know what those 53 Chevy teeth would look like, although the 58 Chevy Impala was now in my ownership.

We were in a different phase of hot rod adventures with more of a custom approach instead of a more powerful motor. It would have taken more than a weekend of work to get the similar design finished on my 58 Impala. But, again, life moved on fast and the exchange never happened prior to both of our Chevy Sedans being sold.

Wow....... have never seen this before. Obviously the Harley was the point of the shoot....... but wow.

A ‘58 Parisienne really is a beautiful car.

It sure attracts a lot of attention but it too gaudy for my taste!
