Projects New Owner of the 1954 Ford “Mint Julep”

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by HelmuthBrothers, Mar 4, 2022.

  1. I would own a '54 just for the dashboard if nothing else. I think it is one of the best styled ever.

The glass fuel filters are also known for leaking. About 30 years ago, I had one crack the length of the glass tube. Gas just poured out. Fortunately, we were at a restaurant four miles from home and the the engine was cold.

My teen aged daughter was real happy to come rescue us.

I’m not referring to the Autozone glass ones. The old style ones.

With millions of these in use as original equipment and more in the aftermarket they are tough to beat. No flexible line from the fuel pump to the carburetor is original equipment. 48792BD1-8120-4F79-A0FC-CA16E10E8058.jpeg

I designed up a little logo for a key chain. Had it made on Etsy and came in the mail. Too cool not the share.

  10. I first saw this car about 15 years ago at the grand national roadster show. I fell in love with it back then and had saved a picture i took of it for inspiration for my 52. Im glad to see your taking good care of it and "de-stylizing" a bit by taking off the script.

Just some updates of the Mint Julep. Been enjoying the car all summer. Running and driving great. Took it down to TROG and got a half of a day of good weather before the Hurricane started rolling in. Starter started acting up so I'm going to address that in the coming days.

My '53 Vic sat identical, (king pin front end required lower control arm pans to be dropped and spaced 1.5", coils cut, rear blocked 3", also Foxcraft flare skirts.
'55 DeSoto floating grille with park lamps, '56 Olds taillights, headlights and taillights frenched.
I used mid-'50s International pickup front steel wheels: 5-on-4 1/2, but a deeper set. '55 Olds Fiesta caps no longer flew off in a turn!
Flathead was a '53 Merc, from friend Ron Dunn, Vintage Ford in Santa Clara.
I usually have '54s, yours is beyond 'nice'.

TWIG shot the car for hopefully a feature in the near future.

ALSO - Just a heads up guys. I’ll be listing the car for sale very soon and wanted to let any followers of the car and this thread know ahead of time in case anyone is interested or would know anyone interested. Please feel free to PM me for further details.
