To borrow another barroom brawler crooner's line, than's bad to the bone!

.... and The Rev. is still doing his thing. I see him play (on average) once a year at my friend's bar/music venue here in Omaha. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to draw the crowd that he used to.

All his followers are old, like me.

@Ryan this story is good every time you tell it.

Jim ends up playing the Rally up here every once in a while. HUGE gigs with 30-40K people in some cases

Like a decade later, he had a '32 at the old South Austin Speed Shop. If I remember correctly, it was a crazy color... like pink or purple or some shit like that.

That's lavender. Serious rod/custom color in the '50s.
My chopped '36 three window got painted lavender, right in my back yard. (1958)
Just got my license, drove down First St. in San Jose, and there was...ANOTHER '36 three window, chopped, lavender!
Guy said there were 2 more running around, both lavender.
There was also an AMT 1/25 scale model in late '50s. Chopped '36 Three window, box art LAVENDER!
    A recipe?

I remember seeing Sean work on his '32. Didn't realize (or remember that it was) Heat's car.

I think I have some in process pictures that I took.

Was looking at The Beach Boys touring schedule this year and the first part is Europe and Skandanavia. Lots of the old R&R groups still draw big crowds overseas

I used to go see them play a lot in the late 90s/early 2000s. Man they put on a great show.

  26. Years ago, 2005?, I helped wrangle up some hot rods and customs to display with the Harleys at a friends local show during Sturgis. He hosted The Rev that year at the Full Throttle Saloon. Almost a total rain out so they didn't come on until damn near midnight. By then the crowd was only a couple hundred at best. Played two solid hours without slowing down. Since I "knew" some folks I got called up to the VIP area Stage Right for the last half of the show. Man o man, being mere feet away and under the glow of the lights I can tell you it was electric up there. It was like a totally different show vs. out in front of the stage. A pretty special night.

Great band, seen them live a few times, large catalog with a lot variety over the years.

Bounce around on their songs - if you don't find something you like - theres something wrong with ya

  28. Frist two albums are by far the best. DJ'ed for him once in the early 90's and we met back stage. Very humble person and always plays his heart out. I always yell for him to play Bales of Cocaine but he never does. :)

Had a lot of good times seeing the Reverend play - often too good a time. The double meanings in his songs are terrific.
