Watch, if you can,:( this video i just found on YouTube of 100+ cars (mostly Studebaker's being crushed. The guy says he saved a lot of stuff but I see a lot of quarter panels, doors, and fenders and other useable stuff being scraped. Lot's of 4 dr Lark bodies? as well as others.

There is a time where reality step's in. I give him credit for what he kept. This guy saved TON'S of stuff from this yard. Who would have the room to keep it all? What he crushed was way beyond help.

This happened locally 30 years ago. Depressing then but it's history. At least we have searches via internet now to make up for it a bit.

That was last year - Vern Ediger's old yard in Halstead, Kansas. He had over 100 Studebakers. He tried to sell them to Studebaker people, but no one with money would come get them. I hate the guy who crushed them, he was a moron.

  13. That pretty much sums up what they must have been worth. Sometimes scrap really is scrap.

All the "Save all Studebakers" guys showed how dedicated to the cause they were when they didn't buy much.
As far as the "moron" who crushed them...He owns at least 2 salvage yards,a highly successful Facebook page where a lot of vehicles that he could crush get sold to people who actually have money. As posted above, sometimes scrap is scrap.

  15. I watched the whole video, I only saw one car that may have had some salvageable sheetmetal (a blue lark PU that had a decent-looking bed, but all you saw was one side), the amounts of rust that fell out when a seam split on most of 'em told me these were far gone... and the vast majority of them were 4-drs.

I thought some of the ones he did save looked iffy at best...
