The owner passed away and the wife was selling a few of his cars, one of the care takers of these cars contacted me to trade for a model T I was building. When I saw the first picture of the truck I knew right away I had to have it! I could tell this was an old build from back in the day. The caretaker wasn’t aware of the truck’s history and wasn’t able to answer my million questions. So took the truck home and starting to share it around on Facebook, the stars aligned and the original builder got in contact with me. The story of the truck basically is 3 brothers and a couple friends built the truck together around 1957 and took turns driving it to high school. You can see the first picture of the truck when it was first built. Flathead V8, I was told it took 4 junkyard motors to get enough parts to get the Flathead running. One of the brothers worked at a Sinclair gas and service station and you can see him sitting in the truck in front of the service station. Later in the mid 60s it was passed to one of the other brothers and he re did the truck with a 283 and a 56 bel air rear end, as well as adding a top and bed cover. The truck bounced back from brother to brother where it finally ended up with the friend who had it until he passed away and that’s where my story starts. I am in contact with the two last surviving brothers who built the truck, and fully plan to have it running this year so they can take another spin in the truck they built so long ago! They are both excited as I am and we plan to sit down and record the full story as I am told there are plenty of funny and embarrassing stories. I will update this thread as I build the truck and do more interviews! In the mean time enjoys these pictures of then and now! 5E54F9F2-5B97-4ECA-8F45-E009FC645A0C.jpeg

This is the first time I ever saw a widened '32 grille. Really neat car with some great history, glad it's in the hands of someone who cares about it. A little rough around the edges maybe, but there's enough "good" left to do at least some preservation for sure.

What he said. I kept looking at that grille wondering, "Is that really widened?"

Very cool deal all around, that's going to be a fun one to finish. Interesting side note, if you notice in all four of the old and original pictures all of them cats thought it was necessary to wear a helmet when they got in to this car. Got to be a story there as well.

  24. We are going to interview them on Rod and Style YouTube channel, give that a follow if you haven’t already. But a unboxed bare bones RPU with Merc Flathead probably did feel like a monster in 57 haha

  25. Thank you! We are definitely staying period correct!
