    Hello,

I have taken photos of hot rods and motorcycles from a 6 foot tall ladder for a different look at the builds. The majority of photos are eye level. I even went the opposite direction with the camera on the ground looking up at the hot rod/motorcycle and a timer clicking off until the final click. But, the pro photographers at Lion’s Dragstrip always had access to a ladder to get slightly taller starting line photos. I am sure it was to get a higher position over some of the obstructions of other photographers.

As a teenager, I was obligated to go to the nearest position on the spectator’s side fence to get my 16mm movies filmed with the least amount of obstructions. I even squatted down during the breaks and other races I did film, to be courteous of the people in the stands behind me.

But, many years later, when my wife and I were at a small neighborhood park overlooking the ocean below, a surprise awaited us. Down below on the coastal highway, sat a custom hot rod truck that I had seen before, a year or two ago. Since I have not seen the truck in all of that time, I thought it had moved away from the coastal area.

So, from a 6 foot tall ladder for photos to the ultimate height of 100 feet, the hot rod truck photo was a nice surprise.
