I helped three of 'em get through. You'll make it ;)
Leave those FX cars to Jim Wicks.

    Hi Jim,

Are you in Racine? If so, I found your car in a October '75 Rod Action.

    Rich,
Yes, I am just West of Racine. My Comet made a few mags back then, too bad all but a couple of the printed media are history.
Maybe we will see each other at an event somewhere in this area.

I was fortunate enough to go through the Skillman collection all by my self…amazing collection to say the least..he had a Thunderbolt, a old S/S Mustang, and a killer old Chevy Drag car amongst his collection..

    Rich,
Thanks for posting the photos! It brings back some good memories. The photo was taken a couple of days after I finished the build, I drove it to DesMoines with a couple of test miles on it. ( It will be back in DesMoines in July for the Heartland Nationals) I still have the “C851” license plate hanging on the wall! I also had “C852” on my non HAMB friendly ‘71 Comet GT.

    Hello,

Nothing says power to the ground than slicks. But there are slicks and then some hot rod sedans just need a little more than most. This Red Mercury Comet sticks out from any angle. The look from the rear is most impressive… “we all like a nice rear end…”

Hopefully, this is a classic rolling around the streets of coastal So Cal. It is an impressive build with the most unusual license plate for this model. A true one of a kind personalized plate.

The stance says pure drag race ready and it was one of those views that we all used to see at the drags in their heydays of racing from the factory was the big thing. YRMV

This one showed up at the 2011 Street Machine Nats in St. Paul MN. I know, it's not an old photo and I have no idea if the car was a tribute/recreation or an original; maybe someone on here can shed some light on that. But after it idled past, backed up and parked the ground finally stopped shaking under my feet so I had to grab my camera and capture the moment! :)

It is a tribute. The factory only raced hardtop Calienti’s and one wagon in ‘64, this car is a Cyclone. Also it has steel fenders, (bolt on end cap) and a reproduction Crites hood. Real “Plaza Glas” fenders and hoods were different.
Its still a cool car and I am sure it shook the ground.

Hey thats mine! Thank you. Ive owned her 27 years now, the majority of it with the torq thrusts and ram air/teardrop hood I started and havent finished

Thank you! Im getting ready to go through the motor, that photo is actually is photoshop but that is exactly how it will look once Im done mini tubbing it. Im actually going to be going through the whole drivetrain, Goal is to give the car that late 60s/early 70s street race/pro stock type of vibe
