I have a bit of an update on the Sacramento Coupe - I am still working on my house so time is limited but I am making sure I get it done! I popped up to see "Redoxide" and he kindly sold me a 37 ford gearbox mount and a handbrake lever ( much appreciated Ian)I have cut and welded plugs into the front wishbones,I tried to fit the front spring to get the front end on but found out that I had bought too short a spring ( I`m new to old hot rod stuff!)so I ordered the correct length-whilst waiting on that I have bought my tyres ( direct from Coker in USA-cheaper than buying them in the UK) ,had my Kelsey Hayes wheels dipped and blasted( found 3 cracks- all "v ed"out and welded now) they are sitting etch primed ready for paint.I am now at the point of fitting the "B" engine and gearbox -feel free to correct me if I am going the wrong direction! I have mated it to the torque tube (pics later) and am supporting it via a temporary crossmember on screwed rod ,I also plan to make a frame to support the engine onto the chassis to allow me to set the suspension in with the weight of the engine and transmission on the chassis then get the engine mounts made so the engine is level when the "rake " of the chassis is sorted . I have set the engine height at the front using the model A crank bracket and all looks well at the moment-opinions are welcome on this set up. 20220706_160515.jpg 20220706_164235.jpg 20220706_201749.jpg 20220706_210519.jpg 20220604_143036.jpg 20220604_143036.jpg 20220704_205035.jpg

I forgot to write that in my spare time I have installed all the interior wood framing bolts and the wood header ,sure makes the body a lot firmer.I have also made templates for the glass ,which is currently being cut at a local supplier and I am currently altering the Equaliser inlet manifold to fit the "B" engine in my spare minutes! -more updates as I progress

I have been hard at it with cardboard templates, a grinder and various spirit levels! I have my engine and gearbox mounts made to bolt a 32 4 Banger in to my Coupe -here are a couple of pictures, please excuse the bolts as I am waiting on the correct imperial thread ones coming. I have yet to slice the lip off the front cross member -it is clear but I know it will rub when running . 20220721_180132.jpg 20220721_180143.jpg 20220721_180206.jpg 20220721_180231.jpg 20220721_180132.jpg 20220721_180143.jpg 20220721_180206.jpg 20220721_180231.jpg 20220721_180231.jpg 20220721_180206.jpg 20220721_180143.jpg Tomorrow I will be making the rear gearbox mount - I got a 37 rear gearbox mount from Redoxide ( thank you) so I can make a bolt in one for it. 20220721_180132.jpg 20220721_180132.jpg

Great progress Jim, neat solutions to the engine mounts and a clever temporary trans mount ,that beats balancing stuff on a jack. Have you managed to source a clam shell for the torque tube coupling ?

Might see you at Rays on Sunday .. cheers for now ..

  18. That’s some pretty outstanding frame and sheet metal you are starting with. I have lots of respect for folks that build this stuff outside of North America, it must be just a bit more challenging. Again, nice start and good luck.

Here is a quick update on my engine/gearbox mounts. As a side question-who would have done this ? would you fabricate the brackets etc yourself or bought a "kit from a known supplier" 20220722_173137.jpg 20220722_173208.jpg 20220722_173227.jpg

In my opinion, with motor mounts in front and mounts on the flywheel housing, you don't need a third set of mounts at the transmission, You will be taking flex out of the frame and adding it to your engine and transmission assembly which increases the chances of breaking the flywheel housing or the middle or rear mounts. You also need to think about your pedals and whether or not the driver side flywheel housing mount will limit the travel of you brake or clutch pedal. Ask me how I know..............

I do agree with you ,but Ford had the three areas mounted so I just went with ole Henry ! I do realise that there may be pedal interference but I didn`t have pedals and an A mounts there so I just risked it- if it interferes I will work around it I have made worse mistakes in a build lol.

The A's have a front & bellhousing mount & 35 on had front & rear such as yours & no middle mounts.

Your mounts all look great, I pinched pics for a mate of mine who wants rubber mounts.

Yeah, its either end and front or mid and front, not all 3.. you may find that henry was chasing clutch chatter through the years, and he did things to try to resolve it.

I do like the front and mid mounts though... that's deff the way to "float a motor"

Jim for pedals look at the Clings style pedal mounts . Something you could easily replicate . They mount the pedals to the gearbox in a similar position to the ones on an original A . Not sure if your familiar with them . Makes life nice and easy ..

    whoops? thats Clings with a C not a K

Hi Ian, pedals already mounted ! in a slightly more substantial way than the Clings kit and when you look in the cab it looks like a model A pedal set up ...........pictures once fully welded and painted( not that my welding is that bad )

I forgot to say that the handbrake looks braw and fits in well with my interior -it is also already mounted on the foot pedal bracket.
