That’s as classy as I had it pictured in my mind. Now do I just use my extra Brewster caps or the Packard caps? Hmmm. Good thing I have a customer’s roadster to finish to keep me from getting sidetracked with a 3 window…

Unclebrad, I really dig the wider whitewalls. Could you make the Packard cap the bronze color of my Brewster caps? You guys have made this a really good looking car. Thanks

Yeah. I wish there was a little more too. I have really enjoyed playing here, learning new stuff about photoshop AND hot rods. ;-)

Hey photoshop gurus looking for a project...recent acquisition (still 4 provinces away, I won't see it first hand for a month or so)...I'm wondering about stock style 4 pieces hood and an early to mid sixties show car vibe. Maybe chrome reverse with and without spider caps, pinner whitewalls? Anything else you artists think. Please and thank you.

    Try this on for size:

  8. Thanks, I like the hood and wheels, I'm thinking thin whitewalls (maybe "pinner" is not the correct term?)...I'm not ready to spend time or money on a total paint job yet, so it'll need to stay red for the foreseeable future (can we go back to the red?). and, How about one versions with thin red wall striped tires and the chrome reversed wheels?

  10. Thanks guys. For now, I'll keep it as is...but these give me food for thought.

Hope you don't mind but I thought it needed a pinstripe...

I'm sure some of you are familiar with the build of this Humber Hawk here on the HAMB. The owner recently added the following comments:

"I do still have the [side trims]... I'm not against trying out different trims either - but I haven't got that far yet - I figured if I weld up the existing holes and make it easier to get a smooth shape, I could deal with the trims at a later date.

I'm not the biggest fan of the green either - but it was always two-tone.

I've not decided on a final colour yet, currently thinking along the lines of a period teal/petrol-blue - but I'm pretty keen on it staying two-tone, with a lighter roof colour."

So, who would like to give our mate a hand with new color and graphic ideas? I'm thinking something from the Watson playbook. As for rolling stock, maybe chromies with airbrushed centers and spider caps? I'll let you be creative. Thanks in advance!

OK, PhotoShoppers... y'all wanted something to do ?
How about helping me decide on a color for the '40 Chrysler ?

This is what it looks like now; (thanks to Moose for cleaning up the background sometime ago)

    40 Chrysler_2.jpg

It will remain mostly stock in appearance, slight lowering, no chop. It will have wide whites like in the pic. And, the wheels will be very similar with the Chrysler caps. Front & rear bumpers will be set in as close to body as possible.
(Don't have a pic with the front bumper on, but it's in good shape)

These are the colors I'm considering, but am open to suggestions (the existing Dark Green is a bit dull IMO)

    Very good samplings, Moose.
I'll have to mull those over…..kinda leaning towards the Mercedes version.

Very nice, Unclebrad! I like the shaved trim and the color choices. The wheels look great, too!

Moose, you always come through! That looks really sharp.

Now I'm going to ask for another favor. Can you keep your colors and wheels, but switch to '56 Chevy side trim and adopt the graphics layout from this Watson-painted '56?

I know it was California and the time. But I just can't wrap my head around those graphics or the combo of lake pipes and Bellflowers

Sort of. I was actually wanting you to replicate the Chevy's paint job on the Humber using your color palate. So, the lower half of the car (below the Chevy trim) would be the lighter color you used on the roof, and the stripey flames would be in that same lighter color "inside" the Chevy trim. Oh, and the roof would now be the darker of your two colors.

First thing I thought of when I saw the Humber car was 1954 Olds. So that's where I went.

But if you really want a Watson style paint job, this is what I'd do (from Rikster's Custom Car Chronicle):

Still not exactly sure if this is where you want to go with this but here is another version....

Niiice! If you can pull it off, go for it. I plan to share them all with the builder as inspiration.
