Hey....it could have been a GM distributor where the cap is held on with 2 little steel screws into the aluminum body....guess how well time plays with that combo.
New distributor ,just need a new cap is all , Hell it's fixed now ,may as well wait till it needs a new cap !!!!
You can buy the large size cap adapter from Rockauto. It’s $5.89, that might be easier than replacing the entire distributor.
That would be way easier . I know the engine was new around 5 years ago , but if this thing is like any other 302 that distributor is nice n’ seized in place . On another note with the new carb and tune up this thing runs like a champ !!
