I have a weakness for anything old and what I think is cool, anyone else have vintage lawn mowers? First 2 are sears then my Wheel Horses. I mowed with the far right one until the motor went south about 1-1/2 years ago, have a Case another Wheel Horse and a couple cool old push mowers also but they are all buried right now in storage.
I love vintage mowers and am currently on the hunt for one. You be got a great collection. I hope to be able to ad to this post soon
It's not a rider, but it is nearly a century old, and I would bet a bummer to use. It belonged to my wife's uncle. When he passed, the family threw it in a dumpster. I just had to save it.
A buddy of mine posted this on Face Book. It's a 1951 model, manufactured by Indian Motorcycles. REALLY cool!
Here's an old pic of my Heckendorn. Built in Kansas. Commercial mower. Mows 88" wide and has a model A Ford transmission. They built the same style mower form the 1950s on into the 1980s.
Not really vintage. But here's my grandson, mowing with his 59 Vette mower. I'm gonna paint it, and add some lights over the winter. Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I still use late 60s Sears tractors and have a 61? Ariens rear engine mower I need to get working on and its only been sitting since 83.
Here's a couple of Aussie legends, Victa 18" and Victa Rotamower. aptly nicknamed "Toe cutters" for obvious reasons. Supposedly the father of all rotary mowers invented in '48 by a bloke named Lawrence Hall who added blades to a plough disc and used a kerosene tin as a fuel tank for his invention. In '52 Mervyn Victor Richardson built his first commercial prototype under the Victa name, they are still in business today and an Aussie staple.
Ive got 4 of those human powered reel type push mowers. They actually work but I let my cows mow the grass. I just bought a basket case Midland Garden Tractor that has a sickle bar mower on the front. Ive got a line on a Chore Master single wheel garden tractor that has a sickle bar. My air powered grease gun is mounted on the chassis of a old three wheel eclipse mower.
Interestingly, early 1900s Coldwell mowers were sold in Austalia too though I assume they were imported. Meanwhile, here's some more Aussie mower goodness, an early 1960s Pope, Supa Swift with the very rare to have survived catcher.
My 1965 John Deere 110 and the girls when we got it from Iowa 4 years ago. I traded 2 church benches that I had $45 in each and a shark painting a friend painted for it. This was the 4th year I mowed with it at the farm 3 acres at a time. Mows great. Have an original John Deere dump wagon for it too. I love mowing on it even when I cut 13 other yards a week on the side with my zero turn I still love mowing with this. Needs brakes. They wanted a dog but we settled on a goat named Oreo. lol
Can anyone identify this small riding lawnmower??? It has a 3hp Clinton engine and forward and reverse gearbox. I got it in the early’80’s and did a restoration then but it’s been outside for years now. I’m hoping to find out who made it and it’s year made. It’s very small compared to today’s riding lawnmowers.
Riding movers are for cream puffs! Real men go to fight the green plaque with an Irus 2-wheeled tractor. Made in West Germany in 1961 it makes way where even Indiana Jones couldn't get through! A real German Fighter who can rip of larger body parts without even coughing! Note the length of the shift lever. It has five gears forward, as many backwards and free-off between each position. The stroke of the lever is over 3 feet! It is rewarding to fight against the 300cc momentous 2-stroke from West Germany. The knife in the rotary mower weighs like a milling wheel, and when released, the machine continues to steer forward as long as the blade rotates ... A machine for real men
My neighbour brought me over this old craftsman motorized reel mower the other day Runs great ,needs a good sharpening and a few loose screws fixed , the machine not the new owner LOL .
