That's a pretty neat little segment. It's so rare to see a TV news segment of the vintage that looks so clear and crisp.
I've had to watch it muted, @ doc's office..but I'm thinking 1965-'66 with his Scorpion show rod, plus you get a glimpse of Stuckey's Bonneville in the beginning.

The Le Pearl, owned by Bob Turgeon, was Darryl’s first car to gain national fame. These Petersen Archive shots are taken outside the Detroit Armory, where the NHRA Championship show was held concurrent with their National Drags being held at Detroit Dragway, Labor Day weekend in 1959. The ‘ Bird won the Sweepstake award, best of show.
