No forgetting the "Double Dragon"!

Hello,

I was a teenager with a 16mm movie camera and tripod walking around the pits of Lion’s Dragstrip. It was one of our weekly events all day into night. In between filming my brother racing in his 58 Impala and others in the Gas Coupe and Sedan classes, I tried to find the best place for some cool movies.

After a week later, our friends usually came over to our house to see the last week’s filming. It was a name and identification contest. Most of those guys were at the drags as their weekly fix and teenage hangout. The odd thing was I got dropped off at home after the drags closed. My brother and his friends went off in their hot rods to do the teenage drive-in parking lot bantering and camraderie.

I knew it would be my time soon. But, one day I was in the class lanes and when the "gate keeper” opened the lane I was standing in, looking at the race cars. I walked right by the gatekeeper and set myself up, next to some competition cars located nearest to the spectator seating/starting line. At the next week’s film showing at our house, this short clip popped up and everyone was confused as to who it was.

The only other rear engine roadster was the Speed Sport Special that we had seen at the 1959 Riverside Raceway drag race meet. Then one of the teenage, a custom car guy, said the person in the white shirt pushing was actually George Cerny. That roadster was having difficulties and got pushed off to the side of the starting area, in front of the spectators.

The other versions came a year or so later.

Too confusing for me...maybe I will wait and play next week.

 

I always look to see if there is another FAS before I post mine.....didn't see yours if it was up before mine. Sorry....this gets very confusing for everyone.

I asked the moderators if they could start a show each week so this doesn't happen ....but never heard back. I think that would be a good solution.

 

This custom is over the top! What a stunner, thanx for sharing it!

 

Great stuff guys and gals, Imy old car days are over as my health won't let me wrench anymore. But I will be living through you cats experiences and loving it, keep it coming gang!

 

I thought that this was a little artistic, guess who's car?!

 

It must be early morning at Indy...looks like they are wearing their pajamas
