Picked these up yesterday. Not sure what Iam going to do with them yet, except clean them up to check them out. The guy said they have been in his garage for 40+years. Gene.
I have been getting some stuff from a guy cleaning out his mother's house. He calls me every time he finds a few things. Not much at all in the final load, but this. Thought some of you guys might remember it. Gene.
Haha Gene, background spotting is a favorite activity of mine, too! It's a 14x4. A guy narrowed a 14x6 and welded it together. Red paint to top it off. Gave him $5 and took it home to the solvent tank. Looks cool, that's all I can say for it!
There are over 100 different manufacturers of the windshield solvent bottles .Hard to find as most were alcohol based and lid left loose all summer ,would freeze and break the bottle in the winter .
I got a chance this weekend to visit "the Dome" again, you can see pics from my first trip here https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/thunderdome-a-junkyard-tour-pictoral.1248728/ This time I didn't find much hot rod/custom car stuff other than 1 Stromberg 3 bolt carb and a possibly Lyon hubcap, but I found a bunch of other cool shit, here it is laid out. Also, while I was there, I found this enormous pile of pill bottles, laying outside on the grass. There were thousands of them, looks like they may have been in a huge box or pallet that disintegrated and they just spilled out all over. I picked some up and they were all full! This guy had a unique collection of stuff, that's for sure. Was a fun hunt.
Went a little crazy at the auction. Came home with 2 boxes of small cast aluminum propellers. Anyone building model airplanes or boats is welcome to get in touch with me. Also bought an entire box of railroad nails with dates on the heads. Dates range from 1923 to 1933. Again, hit me up if you need some.
Since we're posting some non car vintage stuff, grabbed this up last week. Vintage Gibson mastertone. Made in Kalamazoo, MI baby!
I thought this section was all about OT things that don’t fit the main board. Interesting to see what else people are into or come across. Post what ya got, as long as it’s old.
Picked up a pair of arrow 1171 lights for 5$ at a swap meet last weekend with the gaskets and they WORK!
Got a few things recently, no idea why I wanted a giant Bob Hope head painting but it was at a rummage sale for $10 and I was drawn to it. The signs were from a car/memorabilia auction this weekend, most things brought eye watering money but these were cheap and I like them. The Chevy things were supposed to be dealer displays, they're a little rough but really neat. The '56 wagon is kind of 3D, it stands out from the background by a couple inches. Also got these road signs from a local junkyard, I saw one hanging in the office there and asked if he'd sell it and then found out there were two, pretty neat. And these were about a month ago from an estate auction (hopefully I haven't posted these yet) the guy had like 12 of these Blatz beer signs, I got three and traded one to another local collector for a giant sign that says "MEATS" for the side of my shop. Also got these W signs which were off of a steel building apparently, they look like 3 pointed Rolex logos to me. I've got a lot of bare wall space in my new garage but by the end of summer I'm hoping to have most of it filled in. This stuff feels like it's getting harder and harder to find unless you want to pay crazy money for it.
I was outside painting today, and a friend from up the street stopped by to talk. As he was leaving he handed me this. He said he bought a box of random stuff at an estate sale, and this was in it. He said he knew I was into Pontiac’s, so he thought of me.
