Didn't know if anyone would be interested, obviously pretty rough. Local to me if you do buy and need any help. Would strongly suggest looking at first though https://backes-auction.proxibid.com...-Thunderbird-front-en/lotInformation/68636309
Doesn't look like a Ranchero with a T-bird clip, looks like a T-bird with a Ranchero bed grafted on. Everything from the doors forward is pure T-bird: doors, roof, glass, cowl, fenders, etc. That model T-bird was also a unibody without a separate frame; the doors, trunk and hood were the only bolted-on sheetmetal. Some very serious work that probably looked very good at one time.... The rust looks terminal unfortunately....
That looks almost rusty enough for me to buy. Almost. Too bad it is so complete. Otherwise it would have my name all over it.
Man, that thing is rough as a cob. If you lift up the radiator cap and drive another T-Bird underneath it you'd be 1000 miles closer to satisfaction.
Well, that's different for sure. Would look better with 57 single lights. I bet Jim Sibley would have it going in about a week!
It might be a big job but I think I would weld in some new metal and fix it. I think it is a pretty sharp vehicle and no one else would have one like it. I’m not a Ford man either, but yea it deserves to be fixed. If someone buys it for me and ships it to me, I’ll start a build thread!
That thing is Crunchy frog! Hard... PS: I'm in western NY, Which automatically certifies my knowledge of floorless car's..
Only 238 miles from me! Wish it was farther away or the price was higher (sitting at $475 right now). Those numbers make it tempting but the thing holding me back is I already have a lifetime supply of rust to fix on other projects. But it is still tempting right now and no job in my way, I could be on my way and be there and back in less than a day. SOMEONE PLEASE BID IT UP and save me! It would fit into my group of dare to be different cars for sure but I don't need another headache. Best part is probably the tires in the back but they are sold seperately. sure, tease us with this car but don't tell us about the 35 chevy with the 392 hemi at the same auction.
I thought the 35 might be a little too "street roddy" for here . In case anyone else wants a look- https://backes-auction.proxibid.com...-Registered-as-a-1962/lotInformation/68636308
Can I change the wheels and tires soon? but there is beauty underneath the obvious on that one. I’d still cruise it with a big ole cheesy smile
You know with 6 full sheets of 4X8 20 gauge, several store bought panels, 3 spools of welding wired and a couple bottles of gas, and I think you are in business. Too easy.
so is the winning bidder from the hamb's group? Sold for $800(plus 18%). They have today to pick it up so maybe by tonight we get to see a closer inspection of it.
Wasn't this from around Minneapolis in the early 90s? I seem to remember seeing it at a Vintage Thunderbird Club International regional in Bloomington MN in 1990. Was rough as a cob then, too.
