That color with dog dish caps (or poverty caps?) would really pop!!

  2. I agree that it could look good with the small caps like what was on it. I told him once we put full caps on, he is committed to run them. They scratch the heck out of that nice shiny paint. However, I think the 54 Mercury full caps will look good too. They have a slightly lighter shade of the “magenta”ish color in the center around the Mercury head. You can see one hanging on the wall right above the fender in the last pic.

Also, I made a list last night of all the stuff we still need to get done on this before tomorrow about noon. The list is longer than it should be considering the time between now and then.

  3. The look with the Merc caps. I like it and more importantly, he likes it. Anyway, pretty sure the car is ready to head to Dewey other than wiring in an accessory outlet to charge phone, etc. and giving it a quick bath.

That little reveal of red against the chrome, www and black sidewall is the equivalent of adding a pearl necklace with the little black dress.

  10. Yea, we are fortunate to have Dewey so close. Mick does an amazing job making everyone feel like family. We just got back to the host hotel after having dinner with several of the Stray Kats including Mick and his family. Folks aren’t kidding when they say these shows in Dewey are more of a family reunion that folks just bring their cars to than a show.

Oh, and all three cars made it fine with no issues other than one that likes to get hot when it goes too fast and another that likes to get hot in traffic. :D

Took a few driving shots along the way too I guess since posts are always better with pics.

Wow the Edsel looks great with the Mercury hubcaps and the wheels painted! Glad you guys made the trip with no problems.

  14. Just right and not too red. The center colors plays well with the wheel color.

  16. That appears to be some pretty tasty looking striping going on there. Kind of makes the whole car look "official", don't it?

Good job, Jeff! Love the wheel color & Merc Man wheel covers. :)
Also running the Edsel, warts and all, shaking things out on the long haul. Glad ya'll have the cooling system straight for the upcoming temps. Nineties down here already o_O

  20. Well, we made it home about 6:00 pm or so this evening. Uneventful drive home other than it was HOT! Ended up in the mid-90’s for the drive home so we had to pull over a couple times to cool off the cars and ourselves. Anyway, fun weekend with lots of friends, some even new ones. Silas even had Dan Greenberg take a few pics of the car and him. Then, Dan gave him some tips on photography. How kool is that?!?!

Oh, and for those that weren’t there, Silas decided to power park the Edsel at the host hotel Saturday night so everyone could check it out...:D

  22. I don't think you mentioned it, but who did the striping and lettering on "Pinky"? Did he happen to be a HAMBer? o_O

Never seem to be ready for this time of year, Bob and neither is my Merc  Maybe it'll help the old joints to free up a bit so I can get under the dash and button up the vent system once and for all ;)

Those wheels came out great. I'd have had to name the car the 'stinky pinky', lol.

  25. Actually, there were two guys that did the striping. The one that I knew was Josh Hayden out of the OKC area. He did the dash. He also had Don Dennis from Minnesota helping him who has been a sign painter for about 40 years. Don is the one in the pics and did the hood, decklid, and glove box door (and wallet and phone case not shown). Anyway, there were actually several pinstripers there and I am not sure if either Josh or Don are on here to be honest.

  26. Looks like the respray of the hood matches real well! Good job! That 'sow's ear' has come a looong way!!

  27. I didn’t mention it here yet, but there was a guy that tried to buy the car from Silas while we were at the show. He offered twice what we paid for it and as tempting as that was, Silas decided to keep it. The practical reality is that after the parts and minimal labor we have in it, he would have made a little bit. But, pretty sure he is getting attached the more we make it “his”.

  29. I was offered $25k for my Ford one of the 1st times I had it out. I just may have broken even, but was attached to the car by then. Today, I would think about it.
