As most of you know the attendance at the NSRA Knoxville event has been declining over the last few years in both cars and spectators, not to mention the swap meet being nearly non existent, and the number of vendors of hot rod parts is not even a quarter of what it used to be. That appears to be the case with this years event and made even worse by the intermittent rain all day today and rain forecast again for tomorrow. Even though the cars and spectators were probably only 20% of what it was at its peak 10 to 15 years ago there were still some picture worthy cars fit for this forum. Here are a few. 2 (2).jpg 2 (1).jpg 2 (3).jpg 2 (5).jpg 2 (8).jpg 2 (16).jpg 2 (18).jpg 2 (17).jpg 2 (20).jpg 2 (21).jpg 2 (22).jpg 2 (23).jpg 2 (25).jpg 2 (27).jpg 2 (29).jpg 2 (30).jpg 2 (31).jpg 2 (33).jpg 2 (36).jpg 2 (39).jpg 2 (35).jpg 2 (38).jpg 2 (47).jpg 2 (50).jpg 2 (52).jpg 2 (58).jpg 2 (15).jpg 2 (28).jpg

  9. Thanks, Gary. The East Tennessee area has a long running Hot Rod heritage. Glad to see some die-hards keeping the flame lit. Great selections..........Don.

Thanks for posting the pics. I remember the days when you couldn't find a parking space on either side of the road. It's sad to see the downsizing of our hobby.

Thanks for the pics. Some real nice cars there but the weather looks too damp and dismal for a successful hot rod event.

I couldn’t get inspired enough to go this year.
We were hammered here with severe storms and 65 mph straight line winds.

    Nice batch of cars.
I've got to think that high gas costs and higher costs for everything on a road trip are going to keep a lot of guys home or choosing to go to close to home smaller events this year. Rather than drive several hundred miles to the big event that takes at least three if not four nights in a motel, that many days of eating out for the most part and a lot of gas, they are choosing to go to a little one day even within 100 miles of the house and be home at a reasonable time.
I can relate to that rain, my son in law and I were planning on hauling a bunch of my extra stuff to a local swapmeet 70 miles away this morning but I decided that I really didn't want a lot of the stuff sitting out in the rain if it did rain.

  21. I see my fellow club members were there, the 40 Ford pickup belongs to Steve and the black 52 beside it belongs to my pal Dave.

This 1932 Ford fordor belongs to a Ken, a past club member that now resides in Florida.

I talked with the owner about the truck and looked at it in detail it was very well thought out and had quality workmanship. The cab is 35 and of course the front section is from a 38 Deluxe passenger car.
The truck cab cowl was reworked to blend in nicely with the hood and fenders. All work by the owner. Todays turnout was a bit better and the weather more cooperative, I will be posting photos from the 2nd day shortly.

Yes that is a great car and fresh build it is a 30/31 body but has 28/29 fenders, its drive train is a small block Ford with a 5 speed manual trans. The paint is an older repaint from an earlier restoration and the interior is stock Model A. It is owned by father and son Wayne and Dustin Morgan and was engineered and built by Barillaro Speed. The Morgans are good friends of mine as are the Barillaros, I watched a good bit of the build it is a first class little hot rod.
