I have a cast iron intake manifold casting number 3872782 date code E116. It also has a large H cast just below the firing number. It does not come up on any if the casting number lists I have found. It looks identical to another 1966 intake with casting number 3872783 which shows to be for a 275HP 327. Can anyone shed some light on this?

  2. Picture of the intake casting number? The H is for calling out its a Holley base over a Rochester/Carter base.

On closer examination I believe your right. What is the significance of the H under the firing order?

Number 3872783 shows that it is for a 283"/327" , 1966-67, with a mounting pattern
    for a Holley.

  9. Looked on two Camero sites both listed it as
    '66-'67 A B X/327 w/o AIR
    Holley Service Replacement
I believe Service Replacement means you could buy it at dealer parts counter if you wanted a square bore intake

I also have a Carter AVS tag 4028SA which shows to be for a 66 275HP 327. I fits both manifolds and I’m assuming it came from the factory on the manifold without the H.

  13. It's the Chevrolet 'monkey see, monkey do' version of the modified Falcon that F*%d marketed. Just another wasted use of manufacturing resources! YOMV....... but you'd be wrong!
