Cool story. Conjures up memories of when I was 6 or 7 years old back in 67-68. My dad owned an auto salvage yard and pulled a 421/4speed out of a wrecked Pontiac and put it in a 55 Ford pickup that he was fixing up. I can remember it like it was yesterday, hanging my head out the pass side window while he did a tire scorching burnout through the single trac 6 cylinder rear end. I was hooked.

Great story. Did the kid that masked the flames ever get to see it after it was painted

I want to adapt my F350 rollback wrecker truck to a 56 Ford, maybe a cabover, maybe a F600. I have seen several for sale over the last few years, at high prices. Of coarse I drag my feet and miss out. Some of the nicest ones are old fire trucks. Typically well cared for. Nice bodies, but around $6000 is hard to take. I guess I should just sell the wrecker.
