I have my next - and probably last - hot rod build already underway. I have ordered the parts I can't scrounge and started on the engine/transmission. The actual construction is still a ways off in the future but this much I know for sure: it'll be a roadster, it will be a Deuce...and it will have a quick change. Do I need one? Nope, but unlike Joey's mine will be 90% form and 10% function. Yep, I just think they are sexy as hell. .
I remember my first V8 quick change. I got it from Winters and installed it in the chassis of the 2004 NSRA giveaway 30 RPU. when I built it. Since then I have installed countless QC's and had several of my own. I love the look and the noise echoed from the rear. I have another QC sitting on my shop floor for installation in the chassis of my new FH powered deuce roadster. Thanks for the article.
I'm excited for you Joey!! Can't wait to see the quick change under your 32 frame!! Congratulations!! Brian B
One of the things that says “Hotrod”. I drove mine for 32 years, and it’s still going with the next owner in NH.
Cool!Ilike where your going with your A. I have a Halibrand 101 Quick change for my Roadster. Just need to find someone smarter than me to set it up.
Very cool . Almost tempted to do the same for the exact same reasons as you , under my ‘48 “Effie”. As of now it has a ‘68 C*m*r* 12 bolt attached with a M20 so it has that old school flavor , but that quick change will bump your ride to the next level. Congrats.
Rodsville is good stuff, had one in my T. Never once changed or swapped the gears in it though! Had a second for my old later T project but never got it going. I’m done with banjo rear ends for a while, overdrive covers it pretty well.
Love my rodsville! Just drove from Houston to Austin and back for LSRU in my flathead/39 trans roadster. Did 70-75 the whole time. The quick change is a game changer
McMullen also ran a quick change that fit a '55 to '64 Chevy rear end in the '32. I can't think of the name of it. A lot rarer than a regular quick change but not as cool looking.
I'm just having my first quickie built, halibrand 201 center, all Hotrod works internals with 9 inch shafts, ford bells and early f100 brakes. being built by Royal Kustoms in the UK Its going in my 40 Sedan.
I bought a big 'ol champ-size Winters to go under my 34 coupe. I run 4:61 for HAMB drags, 3:54 for all around and 2:71s for hiway trips. Great fun!
I’m with you @J.Ukrop. The 5 window I’m building (avatar) has a Winters QC under it. Just had to have one. Mine has a 3.78 r&p too with a 3.48/4.11 gear set. What gear set are you running?
