Read a few threads on here but not sure the direction to take on my doors. Passenger door is pretty good, just needs to be raised up a bit to line up the body lines. Overall sits pretty good in the opening. Any suggestions on how to fit the body line alignment better?

the drivers door is more complex. Same body line issue where I’ll need to raise up the door. However it’s not sitting even close to flush in the opening. Seems bowed out below the body line or pushed in at the top, not sure which. I’m thinking maybe use a wood 2x4 wedged at the top and close the door to try to push out the top and even this out? Again, any suggestions?

  2. We have built three 1932 Ford pickup's and we have used washers behind the hinges to adjust the body lines. we have used wooden block in the door to flex the door and pushed in on the bottom while another flexes the top of the door. HRP

This is an easy fix...open the door, put your leg against the lower side edge, and yank on the top of the door a few times. This way there are no sharp corners (2X4) to damage the door.

Also, are you sure these doors are original to the cab?
Years ago I used a set of '34 doors on a '32 cab and hinges...got everything to fit and work fine, but could never get the cowl/door belt line to match up (looked just like yours) .

Thanks all. Seems simple to fix the bowing. How would I raise the doors up to attempt to fix the body line alignment? Or am I out of luck

Not sure if these are original to the cab, it all came together.

I've had 4 deuce pickups and the doors have all been original to the cabs. They have all been a challenge to get the level of fit I require. You know you can get some adjustment to the rear belt line by tightening or loosening the cowl pinch bolt I always brought the front in line by adjusting the hinges.

I’ve tweaked the door and got it closer but still too far for the latch to grab. Should the lower cab corner bead be beveled inward similar to the body line beads where they meet the door? A shop did a patch at the cab corner and it seems like it’s part of the issue.

Lots of patches, as well as the channel job going on there. My guess is that you have bad luck and bad fabrication stacked up against you. Will probably need to cut something if you need to move stuff drastically. As you said, the corner patch is suspect. Or maybe the new door bottoms are wrong? They look like they have a lot more arch than I’m used to seeing.

Maybe small slices here and there will do it. Just make sure moving one spot doesn’t make it too tight in another spot.

  9. That cab corner appears to have been installed wrong. ther is a very slight taper in at the bottom of the cab and that appears to be vertical. Id say 905 of you issue with shutting is with the cab corner. As far as lining the body lines up, i I worked on a 34 cab years ago that ha the same issues with the body lines. I ended up cutting the hinge area away from the door and moving the whole door up 1/4 inch and the using thin washers between the hinges and the door to fine tune it. massive pain in the ass, but it got it lined up.
