The Hemi A roadster. Got a cheap 'glass '32 hood and cut it down to fit the '29 body. I was just going to use the top, but the side panels came with it. I mocked one up, and man, I like it. Some Dzus fasteners and it could be run either way really easily. The side looks good to me Brian.
    I’d run with it.

  4. Hood sides with a blister. Looks race car. Looks finished.

No hood sides...well, I've never liked no hood sides.

I'm with the "hood sides with blisters" crowd.

  10. I thought it was against the law to hide a hemi....I say no sides...

Ditto Some louvers might help too.

  12. It looks better with the sides, and will keep the engine cleaner, but you're gonna have a lot of under hood heat from the hemi, and fiberglass stands a chance of warping from heat, so...... punch some louvres in it! (ha, ha)

Since it's hard to punch louvers in a 'glass panel (but the suggestions to do it are appreciated!) maybe a vented, screened vent? Or some early Chevy hood vent doors? Or just one, as the blister will take up most of the hood side...

I'm against covering up a Hemi just on general principal, but, DAMN, I like the hood sides...

I wouldn't be able to cover up the Hemi. It's so hot rod. Let it be seen.

  17. I would run them with no blister. I like it but I’m weird like that!

I do like that gold valve cover peeking out. It'd look good against the blue paint (once they're all painted).

Looks like poor planning on someone's part...that engine is too wide for the car;)

I’d say hood with blisters.but I’d also go hood with no sides. So people can be disappointed that there’s a Chevy in a Ford

I opened the thread all ready to say "no sides", but this photo changed my mind.

@flynbrian48 a blistered hood really looks awesome...I also like variety...so if it was mine I'd have both options for mood swings...

    Do they make plexi blisters?

Painted hood sides with polished aluminium blister...or no blister I've seen too...decisions decisions...its looking really sharp I have to say...

Are those Tires rollers or the ones your running it with?

They must make louver strips for fiberglass sides don't they...cut and paste Hotrod style...in a carefully chosen layout...perhaps some on top to boot...

Your suggestion of a wire meshed chrome bordered cut and inset sounds like a great option too...

I know I said put the sides on. However, on my 31 sedan my plan is to run a 3 piece hood (solid top & 2 sides like you've got) so I can put the sides on or remove them at the drop of a hat. I've also thought of making a 2nd set with stainless screens in some openings. My nailhead won't be as impressive as your hemi but I'm thinkin' that I'll want to show it off now and then.

If you use the Dzus fasteners you'll be able to do the same.

How are you going to hold the top on? With Dzus? With leather straps/springs? Something else?

  29. If it had any other engine I'd put sides on it, but that hemi is too gorgeous to hide ;)
