Can any learned person answer this question, trying to machine up a base for a stick to mount on a supposedly hurst short shifter and we can’t get a reading on the shifter pitch? Thanks for any input.
It doesn't matter. Use whatever pitch you like. None of the Hurst sticks that I own have serrations to match. The holes in what you pictured are 3/8-inch. Knowing that you can figure the scale.
Did a similar setup in my '39 Chev coupe. I fabricated my own shifter for the automatic trans in my build after looking at all the commercial aftermarket shifters and finding them all ugly. So I used a Hurst shifter arm that I welded to my fabricated setup. It works good and looks better than the aftermarket modern shifters.
These shift lever spacers are available. They are used to move the stick closer or farther from the driver but I know some owners weld their own homemade levers on them. (The other piece is an optional "stiffener plate" for the lever.)
As I said on the Hurst history thread, why do I have a feeling that at some point somebody’s gonna think this thread is shifty. Lol
