It looks like the spring Cherokee Rod Run is a go, We went to the fall run last year and had a good time, since Mothers Day falls on the same weekend as the N.S.R.A. Nat's South and that weekend is a huge income generator for Brenda's flower shop we will miss the Nat's for the first time in 42 years.

I'm sure it will still be cool in the Great Smokey Mountains in April but I got a heater in the old beater, hope to see some of you guys there. HRP

  2. Nothing sweeter than a heater in the beater. Nothing could be finer than to be in Caroliner in the morning. Safe travels, Danny and Brenda.

Might get to this event for a look on Saturday.
Who else is planning to be there on Saturday?

  6. I thought it was kinda funny. Now that the demographic is getting longer in the tooth, they're no longer Poker Runs, but Poker Walks. That's the first time I've seen that.

We are planning on driving the 40 to the Cherokee Rod Run this year. It will be our first time there. All of this is subject to change due to Dr appointments.

  14. I hope to see you there, if you see me speak up. :) HRP

  15. Back in the 80's we went to the North Atlanta Street Rods show at the Presidential Hotel, it was quiet the place and it was round, during that run they were building Spaghetti junction to say the traffic around the hotel was a nightmare would be putting it lightly, The club hosted what they called Casino Night and we played Black Jack,Keno, Roulette and other games for tickets, then they had a band & dance.

The Club made a announcement that due to traffic they would have a poker walk instead of the conventional poker run.

Sunday morning they pilled tickets for door prizes, these guys always had great giveaways.

Since a couple of the members were jewelers they gave away gold & silver rings and such, I was surprised to hear Brenda won the poker walk and we took 500 bucks home. HRP

  21. I met Bob Smith, a Cherokee Indian, a veteran and a hot rodder back in the early 70's at the North Atlanta Rod Run, He was a big man, quick witted and had a great sense of humor and as Brenda is fond of saying a smile that could melt candy bars.

Bob was the past president and one of the founding members of the Cherokee Rodders and he passed away a few years ago.

Shortly after Harrah's Casino was built Bob would ask the participants at the run to give a show of hands if any of us had visited the casino while we were in Cherokee, he then ask a show of hands if they had won, his response was very few, he then would get a big grin on his face and say. " Harrah's is what we call the white mans trail of tears":D HRP

We finally made it after fighting congested traffic from Ga & SC. Hope to see y’all tomorrow.

  23. We arrived in Cherokee Thursday afternoon and you couldn't ask for better weather, we had the pleasure to meet fellow Hamber DC40 (Dave & his wife Linda) great people and see his beautiful 40 coupe.

We also got to talk with fellow Hamber pprather (Phil), he and his wife were on a vacation but they made a side trip to check out the show.

I tried to take photo's that would be considered Hamb friendly, there were some knock out cars that I am sure most of you guys would love but big billet wheels just killed the cars.

I have started down loading here in the motel and I will post a few photo's and I will try to finish Sunday when we get home. HRP

  25. Sorry I couldn't visit with you guys more. We walked an hour and a half up a mountain trail and an hour back down, before we stopped at the Cherokee Rod Run. I was pooped!

    See you down the road.
