Scored this cool old 34 coupe that was raced in the 60s in my home town a few months ago. Be snagging parts left and right to make it complete. But got started on chassis a couple weeks ago and had room to pull it in the shop and get a few things done.

Picked up a '33 rear axle at the Moultrie swap meet that was out of one of Hilton's Hot rods cars, it was already converted to juice brakes and had been gone through. Then a friend called and wanted me to come get some flathead parts and that had a rebuilt '39 trans with it along with a 59A that had all the machine work done and no guts. So I'm slowly getting it together. Had some old ford pickup rollers on it and last night I had to do a tire/wheel change as the old wheels were just bothering me! LOL.

I've never been a fan of "patina" but in this case I think it's mandatory. What a sweet rescue!!! Keep the progress reports coming.

West Coast Jalopies. We had them too. The top photo is the cover of a leather scrapbook. The other photos are from races at the Carpinteria Thunderbowl.

Been working on the brakes, front axle and shocks. Also got the flathead running, and found it had adjustable lifters in it. Gonna check the cam and see if it's stock or hot one!! Runs good and doesn't smoke.

I've been scrounging them for years. Lots of the little stuff I'm buying from C.W. Moss and Thirdgenauto... gaskets, nuts/bolts and such.

  25. I was lucky enough to get a big cardboard box of parts when I bought my car. Turns out none of them are actually for my car haha

Looks good, lucky to run down that flathead, an interesting story in itself deserving of further details.... hoping you will save the patina as per the plan !

I came through Muscogee the other day and remembered your project. I wanted to drop in on ya but had not planned ahead, had to get back to Tulsa. Anyway love to see this up close in your shop sometime. Looks like you are making good progress.
